billgates: Can the Remote Control for RGBW Colour LED bulbs control the White only LED bulb as well?

Thinking of picking 1*RGBW bulb, 2*White bulb, 1*RGBW remote and 1*WiFi receiver v4.0 bridge.

Edit - Why is the checkout charging me in USD and then adding GST on top of that? Both do not go hand in hand.
The RGBW remote can only control RGBW bulbs, you will need a seperate white remote to control your two dual white only bulbs.

LimitlessLED:
mvanwijk: Just received my order (white LEDs) - very impressed with light output (brightness & warmth range). Remote setup was super easy, but am struggling with wifi bridge (which is embarrassing given my background as a network engineer).

I'm able to connect with both the iOS app & via web interface whilst the bridge is in adhoc mode, but once I configure it for 'STA' mode & restart it, it refuses to connect to my router (telecom nz's TG582N) - what wireless interface types does the bridge support (b/g/n)? Router is in mixed mode. SSID and P/W don't use special characters.

Anyone else been able to configure bridge with this router?

The wifi bridge 3.0 is wireless b/g
The wifi bridge 4.0 is wireless b/g/n do you have another router your could try? they both work on all the routers I've seen. one time I did see that it needed a restart of the wireless router, or set the router to wireless G only whilst you configure it to STA mode via milight ios v1.6 app.   Cheers,
Hamish.

thanks - I think i'll try putting it into 'G only' temporarily to see if that helps.

So just to clarify, the tax invoice is in NZD right?

When I got one it was usd and had a gst amount in usd. Asked accountant friend and was told you can't do that so never bothered figuring out how to claim them.

yeah we had a bug in the invoice software, it was looking for "NZ" shortcode not "New Zealand" long text, we changed it since you got your invoice richms. they are now fixed and in NZD, with nzd gst. you can claim it using the mid-month exchange rate chart on the IRD website, or we can re-issue you the latest invoice richms. Cheers,
Hamish.

You have to reissue.  An invoice denominated in NZD is required to claim GST input tax credit.

Thanks, yes we already reissue.

Anybody ever succeed in controlling the bulbs directly? I know they use the LT8900 chip. Now I am trying to see if I can communicate directly with the bulb thus to avoid the limitation of 4 groups which is way too low for my application. I have written an alternative using the Arduino + Ethercard + nrf24L01 which works fine allowing me to control 255 devices but can easily be extended to 65536 (theoretically) as I control the firmware myself. But I would need to control the devices directly. I have seen the use channels 40-50  (or some might be resonating) on the 2.4 Ghz band.

I'd be interested in direct control of the bulbs too.

Right now I'm struggling with the WiFi bridge... I've emailed Hamish, but didn't get anything useful from him.

The LimitlessLED_Milight_Wifi_Receiver_Bridge_3.pdf document isn't clear about what app to run on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.1). It looks like the app should be "Milight", so I downloaded that from Google's app store. Running that shows a "Device List" menu, slightly similar to the PDF. But I can't figure out how to connect it to the Wifi bridge. No matter what I do, the blinking pattern of the lights doesn't change. I use my phone often across my Wifi to my PC using Airdroid (IP address 192.168.1.66), so I'm sure that the phone itself connects to the WLAN.
So I tried going to the LimitlessLED website and followed the link to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cdy.client.remoteLed, downloaded that to my phone, and ran it. It showed me an "IP Setting" window, but I have no idea what to put into the various fields (Name, IP Address, Port), and it's quite different from the PDF. Or do I also need the Tasker thing that's on their website?
On the WiFi bridge label itself is some other stuff, but the bit about connecting to the WLAN is blacked out :(

The paper instructions with the bridge are similar to the PDF, but again slightly different :( And the text is so small as to be almost unreadable.
In desperation, I tried the July 2012 Wifi bridge instructions on your website... they suggest browsing to 192.168.1.100, so I tried that from my PC. No joy. (My LAN is configured to the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, in case that's relevant). Pinging 192.168.1.100 doesn't find anything. My router doesn't show anything on my WLAN except my phone.   The Developer blog seems to suggest that IP address 10.10.1.254 might work. No joy there either.

Hamish did get back to me with

make sure you use the milight v1.6 app from appstore to connect the wifi bridge to your WLAN.

But the Google apps store only has v1.1 of the Mi.light application. Where can I get v1.6 that he says is needed? (I'm happy to install from a .apk if necessary). Can someone please give me some clear instructions on how to make the WiFi bridge work? Or at least how to diagnose what's wrong?

Frank

You might find this manual much easier to follow for using/pairing the lights

All these problems could be solved with an ethernet socket. Sick of devices that are wifi only. The more I have the harder it is to change my wpa key.

At least the new one claims 802.11n support so I wouldn't need to dedicate a slowed down AP to running the wifi bridge.

Brilliant! Thank you... I was missing the step (and the concept) that you connect to the WiFi bridge itself. My mind was in the rut that my phone would connect to my WLAN, and the bridge would appear as a host on that.

I now have phone control of my light :)

For anyone else, the v1.1 milight app from Google app store does work. v1.6 isn't needed. The "WiFi controller" app from limitlessLED.com doesn't seem to work.

My (indirect) pleasure: the instruction manual from wifiledlamp.com is created by me :)
There are 2 different wifi boxes: old style (blue label) and new style (black/yellow label). The wifi box sold now won't work with the "wifi controller" APP.
It only cooperates with the Milight APP.
Here you see the two different instruction manuals for both the wifiboxes with links to their appropriate APP inside them:

Cheers!

Thanks for that... I have the yellow-and-black label version of the WiFi bridge.

Next step is to send messages to the WiFi bridge from my PC... does anyone have any examples they would share with me?
