Hi there, Im working on a CNC lathe project with my flatmate, and the control board has a 5pin header-type connector which is meant to interface with the emergency stop and axis limit switches (fairly important!).

Im not game to solder directly to the board, so would like to find a female plug version of it that can be attached to a short cable. Ive seen a few similar styles online, but they have much taller pins - the pins on the board are only ~3mm tall.

Apologies for the terrible macro shots from my camera phone

This is the connector on the board

This is the same style but with more pins.

This is a cable of the same style but more pins. It is a cable from a PC motherboard to front USB ports, at the USB port end.

Sorry again for the terrible photos! I would really appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction to find a 5 pin plug of this style

Cheers
Nick

You'll probably get something at RS (or maybe even Jaycar), as it looks like some type of Molex connector.
Both show similar things in their catalogues.

Sometimes I've asked PC (builder/repairers) stores for things like this as some upgrades come with header options that you don't use. Then just treat it as a Fly lead and connect.

I had looked through jaycar, they had something similar, but not in 5pin. The unique thing about this piece is that the orientating lugs are set in from the end, unlike say fan connectors which have lugs in line with their sides.

Brilliant! I hadnt heard of RS before but spent half an hour scouring their site and found the exact bit. Now I have ten of the things on their way to my place :D
Thanks!
