I have 2 Apple IDs on the same computer and have bought audible books using both IDs.  How do I get both lots of books onto the same ipad?  ie how do I change my Apple ID on my ipad to get my second lot of books on?  I realise I will probably have to switch between IDs to read each lot of books.  Thank you.

If you just sync the iPad with your computer, you can make iTunes just copy the books from the computer to the iPad,

Otherwise you need to log out from your account in the iTunes app (on the iPad), and then log in with your other ID,

Edited: to make it clear which iTunes app I was talking about

this applies to apps as well, make sure you have both accounts authorised in iTunes and pull ensure the books appear in iTunes from the two accounts. If you are not sure how to do this, then post back, otherwise plug your iPad click on the Books tab then synchronise as normal

I am confused! What I mean is that I have 2 lots of audible books bought under 2 different Amazon accounts, both lots on Itunes on one computer.

I thought that since my ipad and my Apple ID is the same, ALL my audiobooks would transfer to my ipad. But only one lot has transferred and I can't get the other lot over.

Hang on a sec - Audible books are nothing to do with your Apple ID or iTunes - they come via the Kindle app not iBooks. I do not believe it's possible to stay signed into two Amazon accounts with the same Kindle app. Actually, I think you have to disassociate the app from one Amazon account to use it with another.

Unless you mean you're saving the Audible books into iTunes as music tracks, in which case the account you sign into shouldn't matter as they're not protected content (to iTunes).

I have both a kindle, an ipod and an ipad. The kindle ebooks download directly onto the kindle or via the Kindle PC app on the computer. But audible books (for the ipod) download directly into itunes. For reasons I can hardly remember now, but had to do with having a NZ and US Amazon account, I ended up with 2 Amazon accounts, 2 IDs, and 2 sets of audible books in my itunes.

Now it's those I am having trouble with cos my ipad matches only one set of audible books but not the other set. And I need to be able to log in and out of my ipad like I can with my ipod.

It's all got very confusing, and if I had only known in advance, all my devices and accounts would have had the same ID and password!

Have you logged into both Amazon accounts and registered your iPad on each of them? Once the iPad is registered on both accounts the audible books should automatically load. It's not an iTunes issue, its an Amazon account issue.

Thanks, Elpie. Nowhere in all my researching have I read that I have to register my ipad with my Amazon accounts. Will I thereby shoot myself in the foot ie if I am linking up my "US" Amazon account with my "NZ" one? I have got myself in a terrible muddle whereby I have 2 Amazon accounts and an Apple ID - all with different IDs and passwords!

Sorry to say, but my suggestion is not going to work with audio books unless the books were bought through an Audible account. According to Amazon, the only way you can access your books is by linking the iPad app to ONE account, and there is no way to transfer your books from one Amazon account to another. This means to get the audio books from account #1 the iPad app has to be linked to account #1. Then if you want the books from account #2 you have to deregister the iPad app from account #1 and register it to account #2. You can't get the audio books from both accounts at the same time.

The alternative is to install the PC version of the book player, link that to one account and pull the audio books down to your computer while having the iPad app linked to the other account. Then find a way to manage the books on your PC so they can be imported into your iTunes library. It can be done - just search Google for information about managing audio book DRM.

I had two amazon accounts at one stage. I just called them and they merged them together, they were quite helpful on the phone.

As far as having a 'US' and 'NZ' account, all you need to do is change your address at the time of purchase. You don't lose your other purchases when doing this.

Thanks again, Elpie. I had kind of thought through your first suggestion. Your 2nd suggestion sounds interesting. I have sorted out managing DRM on ebooks for my kindle, but have been unable to sort out DRM for audible books, despite extensive Googling. Will have to just try again.

You can always do what mattRSK suggested and contact Amazon to ask for your accounts to be merged. If they say no, then you haven't lost anything, if they agree to do it then you will have saved a lot of time and hassle.

Am reluctant to merge accounts since I can buy stuff with my US account that I can't buy with my NZ one - "this is not available for your geographical zone" etc etc
