i notified trademe app support via the app and they came back and said it was normal as notifications are only delivered when a device connects! duh tardme my phone is on wifi or 3g 24x7 and has no problem receiving email etc ontime.

yep, it can be anywhere from a few hours to 3 days.  my cell phone is on 24/7 and always connected to wifi or 3g.  It does suck.

comforting to know I'm not the only one then! but annoying that timely notifications were one of the killer features of the app alongside the ease of listing with photos.

have you two reported the bug via the app?

I use the app mostly for it's push notifications too, and they're often a day late.  I've reported the bug too.
