There are very few iPad minis around. It seems Apple is up to it's usual tricks - low supply=high demand.

I hear there is an issue with the new iMacs too.

Just received:

Vodafone offers Fourth Generation iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular

Vodafone today announced it is now offering fourth generation iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular and will be offering iPad mini with Wi-Fi and Cellular soon.  Vodafone is offering these new iPads with an attractive data plan, and customers in areas with DC coverage will be able to connect to its super fast “Dual Carrier” (DC-HSPA) network.

The fourth generation iPad features a gorgeous 9.7-inch Retina display, new Apple-designed A6X chip, FaceTime HD camera and ultrafast wireless performance. iPad mini is a completely new iPad design that is 23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter than the third generation iPad, features a stunning 7.9-inch Multi-Touch display, FaceTime HD and 5 megapixel iSight cameras and an incredible 10-hours of battery life. Both fourth generation iPad and iPad mini come with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features.

Todd Hardie, General Manager of Channel and Terminals, says Vodafone is thrilled to offer iPad mini and fourth generation iPad with Retina display, direct from selected Vodafone stores and online.

Customers can pick up the 16GB fourth generation iPad for $0 with 2GB data per month on our Speedy $80 plan on a 24-month term.

“We’re the only carrier in New Zealand to range these products, building on our legacy as the home of iPhone,” Todd continues.  “Anyone looking for the best performance from their iPad need look no further than Vodafone.”

Oh, I do hope not. I've ordered one of the new ones with an additional thunderbolt display for my design studio team at work. I actually wanted the previous model, because it has the optical drive inbuilt, but none were available at the high spec I wanted. We are hanging out for the new one to arrive.

Oh no.
I hope you do not desperately need it. I was told they were orginally due end Nov, but that has been pushed back because of Production Issues with the new unibody.

Well that's a shame. We can struggle by a bit longer on our old Mac Pro, but it's getting a bit past it.

My boss came into work with an iPad Mini during the week. I can't believe I was too busy to check it out.

I wouldn't rush as in 6-9 months time there will be another "This changed everything ever again" sort of event

My own approach is never to get any first generation Apple product, period.

I like them, IMHO they will surpass the iPad2 as the tablet of choice in schools.

I know a few people who are waiting for the Mini 2, in the hope it'll have a retina display. Personally I prefer the larger model, so when I found out there was little difference between the 3 and the 4, I got a cheap refurbed 3 from Apple to replace my clunky old 1. Very happy with it indeed. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have considered travelling without my netbook, now I would only take the iPad.

PB Tech have had them in stock, last time I was there they had them, and that was when no one else seemed to have stock left. Nothing on their website but you could call them.

What I don't like about the larger ipad is the thick bezel. I think it is perfectly usable without such a tick one, and I expect the next one will be more similar to the mini form factor.

johnr: Vodafone stores now sells the iPad

Damn is Vodafone you are 6 months too late otherwise we would have ordered 10 !

Out of interest what are the details of the "speedy plan" or is it just a way of saying pay the device off over 24 months?

do you need the speedy plan to access the DC speeds?

I am seriously considering this for me, the only draw back is that I really only need 512mb per month so it ends up being an expensive option, as I would likely add the mobile broad band to my work mobile account.

I believe in in NZ the data plans are not tiered to speed... data plans are data plans, the networks are capable of delivering the speed that the devices can handle.

I had thought the same thing just seeing the 2GB "speedy plan" begs the question.
