joker97: so not possible to have a functional ipad after updating with above method? confused


It simply won't install it.  The first step is always "verifying the update with Apple".  If the IPSW hasn't been signed as described previously, it will not install.  You cannot do it anymore.  Sorry.

What is wrong with the latest iOS rather than going back to an older version.

You can download google maps now and I've not heard of a problem with Battery Life on iOS6 on the iPad

I have got an ipad2 and iphone 4 still on 5.1.1 and won't update them yet because theere are still too many compatibility issues with wifi / battery life etc.
Hold out for a couple of weeks and I'm sure there will be a better 6.1 update - apple released the 4th beta version of this update to developers just before xmas.

Once this one comes through, I'll bite the bullet and update everything.

While Google has released a great App, It is still apple maps thats is used as a base for installed apps.
