Hi not sure how to fix this -

When wife's iphone was on iOS 5 it has perfect wifi reception in the room, along with ipad 2 (also iOS 5) and the galaxy s2 had crap wifi reception. router is telecom supplied thomson 585

But i've just realised now on iOS 6 the iphone cannot see wifi in the room at all. move about 10 metres closer it can get weak reception.

Why is there a problem - because the ipad 2 still on iOS 5 has perfect wifi reception, even the android has ok wifi!

What's changed apart from iOS 6 on the iPhone 4 - well i suspended my router vertical but that was before iOS 6 and i am very very sure it had good wifi then, even ok wifi during the first few weeks of iOS 6 where it would take a while to find it

but now ZERO wifi in the room no matter what channel i try

i have updated to iOS 6.0.1 but no change

any ideas?

edit: title edited to show that I bought the phone from Vodafone Oct 2010 ...

6.0.2 is for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini only....

You will need to wait for the next update instead.

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6 and its fine, same radio range as always.
One thing you could try, is turning off bluetooth, I've found on some equipment bluetooth interferes with wifi & vice-versa.

Wow, you realise Y2K13 is a digit more than just typing 2013.

Yikes.

And five more digits when you type them together in the same sentence! ;-)

ok now it can't even see my wifi 6 metres away. 5 metres is ok.

I think it's time I did something

1) used website to get apple to call me - asked to reset this, backup this, restore that - no good

2) buy a new phone for the wife

3) use cellular data anywhere more than 5 metres away from router

4) call on Vodafone to help? - does CGA cover this? bought the phone in October 2010

It's more likely you've got a hardware fault than an issue with the software - have you had the screen replaced? If so it's most likely that the person repairing has stuffed it up - this is the number 1 reason for poor wifi performance on the iPhone 4 we see it almost every day from DIY gone wrong

Dropped perhaps? Which part of the country are you in?

Still believe you've got a hardware fault most likely with the wifi antenna connection but could be the wifi chip (the 3G has wifi chip issues but rare in the 4)
