Need to sell my MacBook because my car is making a very strange noise and I have an aching feeling that this will be horribly expensive to fix.

Model: 5,2 White
Year: 2009
CPU: 2.0GHz Dual Core, Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM: 2GB
Graphics: 256MB dedicated
Storage: 120GB OCZ Solid State Drive
OS: Mac OS X Mountain Lion

Condition is pretty good, there are some small cracks on the shell which was common with this model I heard, and the back of the screen (the outer lid) has some scratching too, but nothing major.

This computer has no faults, it works absolutely perfect, and in comparison to my friends 2012 MacBook Pro, it screams. It is so fast, runs the latest Adobe CS perfectly, as well as quite a few games like MC.

Battery has only had just over 100 charge cycles too, so retains a full charge which lasts at least 4 hours from what Ive experienced, but I've had it last 8 hours before of basic tasks, not even lying. I used it in lectures which went on for 4 hours at least and I'd usually come out with atleast half a charge left.

Anyway, make an offer and see what happens, I'd like a quick sell but I dont wanna be ripped off either.

Thanks guys :)
-Sam

Like a chain dragging on the ground or something. It only does it when the car is in motion, so my guess is its not something to do with the engine because it would do it if it was in idle too, but then again I'm not a mechanic so until I can afford to take it in and deal with any repairs, I'm stuck driving mums car and slumming it on the train. Hence I need the quick sell because I do at least 500KM driving each week, and thats a quiet week too, I'm lost without my car. Its a Nisan Primera if that makes a difference.

Hahahaha, I'd be a just as concerned if the computer was making the sound of a dragging chain while moving it.

When you say idle, is the car in gear or in neutral?
Does the gear shifter seem harder to operate?

Whats it like starting?
does the sound increase or decrease when reving?

Would you be comfortable in checking that nothing is loose (while engine off etc) i.e. muffler/exhaust fittings, the belts and cogs at the front of the engine?

I can only say find yourself a friendly mechanic or someone willing to help.
My guess its either the transmission that needs some lube or alternator / belts /cogs that need a looking into.

Whens the last time that you got someone to check there was transmission fluid?

Perhaps the wrong forum for these fault finding questions !

You might be looking at around $200-$250 for that MacBook. Doesn't help that the top case has the crack in it - would have been worth more if you'd gotten that fixed under the top-case replacement plan (free) but I'm not sure if they're still doing that any more.

Since Mountain Lion is matched to the iTunes user account you can't really include that as a feature of the sale - you can leave it installed but it remains licensed to you. Does it come with its original recovery DVDs?

well the SSD itself is probably worth around under $200 mark alone. I'd say you'd probably get a bit more - but bear in mind it is end of life model. I doubt the next major OS upgrade will support this model.

If you're selling the SSD separately then yep you'll get something for it, but in the Mac itself as a bundle it won't improve the value much at all.
