Good afternoon,

I'm thinking about grabbing a mobile phone, primarily for overseas calls (Britian, UK, Australia) and texts whilst in New Zealand.

I've been looking on operators webpages, but it's hard to determine which opco has the best deals for calling and texting overseas. On some webpages I havent been able to find anything on mobile call pricing.

Has anyone looked into this ?

Cheers

1) get smartphone
2) use skype (ideally over wifi)
will work out a lot cheaper

2degrees does 9c texts to UK and Aus, and calling is 44c a minute, or 22c a minute with the bonus rates after topping up,.

Vodafone do a international text add-on for their prepay, at $8 for $100 texts, and they also have a flat rate of $2 for 60 minutes calling to UK and Aus, which is great value. http://www.vodafone.co.nz/international/

Don't know about Telecom XT..?

If you use 2degrees you'll need to be aware their SMS only works to and from a limited number of networks. These are listed on their website.
