Considering bringing my ipad in to work on the train every day as the iphone screen is just a bit small. Before i go look up all the different combinations of plans etc, anyone already posted a list of the comparable prepaid data plans on here? Looking at a gig or so a month probably... Thanks! Sam

I am on the 2 degree $19 prepay plan that gives me 500 mb per month. I tether my Ipad to my phone when I am travelling. Works well. This plan is more than enough for what I need.

I tether my ipad to my android phone. No need for a separate data plan at all yes it uses up battery quite fast, but I have a charger at work and at home so no big deal. for standalone data 2Degrees is probably the cheapest, but only if you are in one of their broadband zones.

If you are on VF on account already you can get 500mb for $10/mth

2degrees have in-zone mobile data $20 for 1GB a month - probably the easiest given you dont want voice or anything else

I use my iPad for the exact same thing and went with Skinny. $4 per week for 200 MB per week (800MB per month for $16). If I have a high usage week I can tack on another 200MB for $4 or 600MB for $8. And the beauty, if I have a week off work I can just can the plan and save my money. If I had to choose another it would be 2degrees as their data plans are fantastic. But my train route has more consistent XT coverage.

I use 2 degrees 1GB for $20, usually is just about perfect for a month, I use my iPad quite a lot when at work, etc. If my phone was on a plan, the paired data thing would be good, but my phone is prepay as I hardly use it. Cheers, Joseph

I have been thinking about this and am likely going to go pre-paid with vodafone on the $19 plan. I think it is very unlikely I would use more than 500mb a month and Vodafone is more likely to have higher speeds in my area. I know a little more than nothing but not much...

UPDATE: Ah seems you are right but you can get a data only add on which gives you 200MB a week for 4$, then add the $8 (600mb) add-on, and you have 800MB a week for $12, or 3.2GB for $48 per month.
