Topic # 100178 4-Apr-2012 22:12 Send private message

On the 1st I signed up with slingshot and this so far I have:

Received 3 Texts saying I will be connected on the 10th.

Received 3 Emails saying I will be connected on the 10th.

Received 2 letters, One supposedly containing my new password however that was blank.

Received 1 Email supposedly containing my new password however both the username and password where blank.

Been Disconnected while waiting on hold on 3 separate occasions.

Good thing I'm having a secondary line activated instead of changing my working Vodafone line over,
But at the end of the day I signed up for the Unlimited Plan not great customer service.

I am currently intending on trialing the Slingshot line initially to see if I find the service acceptable as my only Connection before canceling the Vodafone line as there are 2 physical lines at this address.

If I find the Unlimited connection stable enough to be acceptable for my day to day usage I intend to cancel the Vodafone account however if it isn't stable enough for my needs I may end up keeping both or trying the 250GB capped plan first.

I will try to keep this thread updated as I go.

Although in all honesty I'm just trying to find something decent while I wait the 6 months or so for Fibre in my area.

Chorus tech just left about 20 minutes ago, Line is active and syncing at good speeds.

Just waiting for the Chorus tech to sign off on the job so I can use the line (Or that is what I was just told by slingshot).

Waits Patiently.

Firstly Thanks again to Warren for your help!!!

Yay! Line finally managed to authenticate an hour ago, Getting some very nice speeds from my tests so far.

Standard ADSL2+:

ADSL2+ Annex M:

PingTest:

YouTube loading in 1080p very quickly (My guess is about 2 or 3 times faster than played)

Torrents seem to be stable and have peaked at around 1.5MBps, Very nice to see.

Torrent downloads seem good, Fluctuating similar to how I have seen with Vodafone or perhaps a little better.

Ping times seem to be very nice and occasionally better than I noticed with Vodafone.

YouTube loads perfectly as do most other video hosting sites.

HTTP downloads however seem to be unusually slow (Averaging 200KBps from various sources such as file-hippo), Perhaps something to do with my download accelerator (Firefox plugin DownThemAll) or something, Looking into that now.
