1: I was reading a reddit thread about a guy who got 30/10 and his connection speeds were awful to overseas. He was getting 1.5/0.5 to the USA. Is this a problem with slingshot? Would I actually get the close to even half the promised speed if I went for the 100/50 plan? (Most of the overseas sites I use at the moment saturate my 16Mbit connection)
2: What happens on slingshot fibre when you go over? I was looking at getting the 100/50 250GB plan. Do they slow you down, or charge overage fees? If they slow you down, what do they slow you down to? Is it possible to buy Blocks of data?
3: Would I be better off getting the 30/10 plan? I don't want to upgrade to something that will be barely noticeable, but I realise that our connection to the world is quite skinny, and I suspect that there is probably not much of a difference in actual speeds between the two.
I am looking at getting it because I desperately need more upload. My GF lives in America for the next 6 months, and we spend hours a day on video calls, but the quality is awful, and as soon as I am uploading at more than 90ish KB/s, the whole house's internet dies because of saturating the upload.
My usual usage every month is between 190 and 250GB, so with the data carry over I am not *too* worried about it, but I don't want to be charged $10 per GB if it does go over.
