Bit of a weird one at the moment, that I guess is a routing issue somewhere upstream.
I can't get to sites like media.giantbomb.com. It just times out. The traceroute is as below:

Tracing route to server-54-240-176-114.syd1.r.cloudfront.net [54.240.176.114]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1     2 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  unknown [192.168.1.250]
  2    18 ms    14 ms    14 ms  cpiak1-l9-G-internet.tranzpeer.net [202.180.81.3
2]
  3    19 ms    18 ms    14 ms  202.180.76.74
  4    17 ms    15 ms    18 ms  vlan7-cpcak3-s1.tranzpeer.net [202.180.81.49]
  5    18 ms    18 ms    15 ms  xe-0-0-0-4061.cpcak2-r1.tranzpeer.net [101.98.1.
82]
  6    41 ms    39 ms    39 ms  voc-d.cpcsy1-r1.tranzpeer.net [101.98.1.122]
  7     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  8     *        *        *     Request timed out.
Etc

If I VPN to another location, and go out through that places Telecom connection, no worries. Goes out through the global gateway.

Thanks!

I saw a few people also discussing this on twitter before. It seems to be affecting some ISP's, but not others.

Perhaps something to do with Amazon AWS new datacentre in Sydney? They have just started operations this week, so it could be something to do with Slingshot routes or caches?

Just tested this with a VPN ending in LAX and I am getting 403 Forbidden on that specific domain.

Yeah, VPN is fine.  Without it, it will timeout. With it it has the 403, which is expected, since it's the media hosting place for www.giantbomb.com, and isn't supposed to be accessed directly.

Ok, if 403 is expected... Then I am correctly getting the 403 on a TelstraClear connection.

This points out to something going on with Slingshot and perhaps the new Amazon AWS SYD datacentre?

Looks like it.
Tried at work through Xnet, and it has a different, however also failed, route.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late reply.

Are you still having issues? Let me know and I'll investigate further.

Cheers,
Ben
