At 1 am, 10 Jan, It seems that one of Slingshot international links changed again. Because it was hard to access a China website and latency looked extremely higher than normal . Please notify us if Slingshot adjusts something.

One of the big cable systems out of Australia (Sae Me We3) has had a fibre cut. This cable system carries data between Aussie and Singapore.

This would have a big impact to traffic to Asia until its resolved, which could take weeks.

It had happened before between late Sep 2012 to late Dec 2012. Why it usually happens? Do you have back up plans to solve this latency during these terrible weeks? It is a really tragic impact.

I'm not sure if you understand the implication of a major submarine cable being cut.

It means that traffic is being redirected via alternate routes which is the backup. As for latency that's the result of alternate routes, there is no fix for this unless you know how to redefine the laws of physics and change the speed of light.

At the moment , I just can say " no change is better". Every change makes more difficult to access, and i must buy a proxy to achieve what i need. That's not funny.

Are you paying for consumer grade internet or business with a SLA with your provider?

Yes it does matter, If you are paying for consumer grade internet then it's best effort if you have a SLA in place then they have to reach that SLA

Oh ,  I don't think Slingshot provides something like that. In NZ, it is unpreventable that  international connection issues because of submarine  fibre cables or route issues and it's hard to fix sometimes. We just endure them after all. What we can do?
