As the title says my interrnet disconnects whenever I enable annex M on my router. Could it be that my area still doesnt have adsl2+ enabled? i live in Rotorua about 10-15 minutes from the CBD.

Annex M is not provided in NZ, unless you connect to 1 or 2 of the ISPs that offer this in some areas as an ULL product.

You probably have ADSL2+ but if you're on a Chorus wholesale connection Annex M isn't supported.

Slingshot provides Annex M on some exchanges, but it is not advertised or supported.

Have a look at this thread:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=112008/

It has some information about SNR that tells you if you're on the right equipment.  Mine wouldn't sync with Annex M until Mike from Slingshot made some change to my profile.

EDIT:

Forgot to say: check the chorus availability tool at http://www.chorus.co.nz/maps to see what area you are in.

Hi

Using Annex M will not work if you are on a wholesale connection, However if your DSL connection is on our "Better Network" you are able to use Annex M, however we dont officially support it and it can make the connection unstable in some cases.

Thanks
Lewis
