I would just like to say that Slingshot has fixed the broadband speed issues. I got a call the other day asking if I had any other problems which was good (nice to see better customer service also).

Broadband speeds are significantly faster than they were and have been faster for the last couple of days. I hope this will continue.

Can anyone else confirm that speeds have increased and are currently stable?

Something has been fixed. I've been able to for the first time since signing up in august download at line speed off-peak. 34 gig down in the last two nights off-peak.
Steam today has been crap though. Considering ss has the steam catalog on their servers I think faster than 200KB/s would be possible.

Yip, I have definitely noticed a distinct increase in speed.
I was sorta putting it down to people being on holiday, but it seems it may be a slingshot wide thing if others are noticing too.

I am in Dunedin BTW.

I have seen my download queue dropping, but that may be the dearth of new content at the moment, the fact that I am not FTPing down at the same time because my trial of flashfxp is run out and I haven't replaced it with something else, or because it is actually better, have not looked if I am still having connections spoofed closed or reset, or even if I am able to open a VNC at all unlike in the past.

I've noticed an increase in speed after this post was started and had been up for awhile and gained alot of complaints...for a week, then speeds dropped back to almost as pathetic as they were before (10kb/s more than previous) considering when it was bad before that it was at 30kb/s, on a full speed both ways plan thats not cheap, on a line I know can do much much more thats pretty damn pathetic.

my routers stats show my line in good shape, and I can walk outside to my mailbox and see the exchange's cover :/

way to go SS blantantly rip off people more please.

I know someone that changed ISP because it was cheaper and never asked about the cap at all because they never checked it and got pinged massive overage for only about 8 gigs. Thankfully that ISP now has more sane overage charges than it did back then.

I changed not for the $$$$ but for more GBs...

Actrix provide 20GB max and for the same price I (supposed) will get 40GB on slingshot.

 Just this ...

I've just changed to Slingshot and find that the speeds are as good, if not better than the Telecom connection I moved from. Really easy setup too and much better value for money.

12kB/sec just now from rapidshare. Thats their "prioritization" in action.

only getting about 3x that FTP (or it may be sFTP) from my seedbox down to me.

I'd put any improvements down to the Holidays, I can see our customers now using around 20 to 30% less bandwidth than they normally do, I'd suspect it would be similar for SS too.

In the mean time, go crazy while it lasts as ISPs always get a big shock when business / schools ramp up again in the new year, and it takes a few weeks to order more bandwidth in.
