Just an update:

My speeds are still terrible in the evenings and at night. My advice: Do not join Slingshot.

Im now on telstraclear, same so called speed and data cap, 11mbps on a bad day, only thing holding it back from 17mbps is my routers not powerful enuff to handle that much traffic

same physical line, same router

0.22mbps on a full speed plan to 11mbps?

winner is telstra by a long shot

Mods, can we have this post locked please!

I'm sure everyone now knows Slingshot is not aiming for high performance from it's network.

High performance?  What performance, might aswell be on 256k/256k Broadband, that would be faster than slingshots "full speed" broadband lmao

So you are their customer?

I AM!

I get around 200 KB/sec (1600kbps), not exactly a fair comparisson, which is why this topic needs locking.

So fools can't shine on.

Good for you, if speed is your need, me however, I want high transfer levels at a reasonable price.

What would my family home's 200GB/month transfer cost at Telecom?

All you Slingshot haters need to pull ya heads in imho. They are not aiming at the high end market they are aiming at my segment, 'the family', and anyone else that has high transfer levels.

They are almost the only one's catering for this market segment(and afaik the only ones managing it properly) and for that I applaud them!

Any further objections to close this topic?

so because you are happy with getting terrible internet, you want this post locked?

People like you are the reason New Zealand is so far behind the rest of the world internet wise.

No.

I want this locked because of it's age.

I also believe it's had a decent amount of discussion.

This is not to say someone can't post something negative but if people are just slagging off a company that they have no business with I don't see how it now relates to the op.

Slingshot have not only been guilty of poor service, which is legendary ,but also of deceptive and misleading sales practices.
These tactics have been the subject of several comerce comission investigations and successful prosecutions.
Basicly their "sales teams" make false promises and claims in order to get you change to them and then not deliver.
They target the elderly by phoning during the day.
They have also aquired Telecom broadband customer databases as a source for cold calling leads.
Slingshot are not a trustworthy company and this forum performs an important role of informing those people who may be considering joining and helpng them make better choices when deciding an ISP.

Locking won't take that away.
