Here in Tauranga (welcome bay) I am in a flat with 3 others. We joined slingshot a while back as we were told they were implimenting their own ADSL2 hardware in our local exhange before any other ISP. So we joined up quick. This was quite some time ago now. The day the upgrade had completed our speeds were amazing from that day on, for the last year or so infact.
But since the new plans have come out that are no longer unlimited at night and what not. Our speeds have dramaticly turned bad. The reason we went on the 40 gig plan originally was we did no want to be in the shared pool of bandwidth of the old unlimited plan. We are not massive users, we hardly download more during the night where it was unlimited. We quite hapily bought more data each month to get things when we wanted them.
Anyway, what I am getting at is have we been added to a shared pool of bandwidth? We all shruged it off for the first 2 weeks after the new plans came out thiking it was just a issue that would go away. But to be honest it has been getting worse. Maybe "bandwidth pool" is not the right term, more like "Data shaping" If this is the case we are quite happy to join one of the 100 gig plans. But I do not want to change if there is going to be the same issue there. After local and international speed tests, with all over 1100kb's even as the conection as now. I'm guesing we are in the "shaping pool". Or has the old plans bandwidth/speed alocation been sliced to give more to the new plans, maybe to give us a kick towards to new plans perhaps. Either way, whatever we just want a solution.
As of before the new plans what we wanted to get, would normally take 15 mins at 1 meg a sec. Since the new plans arrived, 2 hours +. I dont think it is an exchange issue as other mates in Tauranga/Mount Maunganui on the same plan are having the same issue. We would all like to know what options we have.

Also noted that our friends that have slingshot joined after us. And yet they have all been 'upgraded' to higher allowance plans and we asked them (our friends) if they went over there original cap and they all said no....We are the only one out of our friends that regularly buy data packs
