How about you get off the unlimited plan, because they throttle the cr*p out of it.

if you have your landline and tolls with them you can get 50gb for $40 and that works just fine for us, No problems watching videos etc. all up we pay $91 a month for phone + 50gb.

only draw back is that you have to pay them an extra $1 for them to send you a bill out.

I'll see what they come up with from the data on their speed test page if it can,t be sorted there are other ISP's to look at but thanks for the suggestion.

Your modem stats are very good, wish mine were as good as that.
So the problem is not at your end, it is a Slingshot issue ....or I see by the stats that your on a Telecom wholesale connection so maybe an issue with Telecom wholesale.
Either way up Slingshot to fix it.

Now on Slingshot Better Network and it's better.

Hi everybody, long time reader, first time poster.

I feel its time to have a rant about slingsht speeds, not sure if this is the right place but I thought the title of the thread is apt.

My problem is that since around December my speeds dropped during the day/evenings. Back then it was about half speed…no problem…but lately im struggling to get 200KBs downstream in the evenings, it just slowly gets worse as the weeks go by.

In the early AM hours during my free off peak time things go back to normal but slowly go down hill once again around 9am.

I thought i would stick it out until the end of school holidays to see what would happen...(nada)

So whats the problem? does slingshot need to buy more pool data? maybe blame it on telecom wholesale? or is there an actual fault... I'm really not keen for logging a speed fault, this exact same scenario played out last summer too and i jumped through all the hoops, logging ping tests and traceroutes...no-one ever responded from slingshot.

Rant over, what to do? Stay and wait for an improvement (most of last year after summer I had an excellent full speed service), or bail now..looking at the vodafone ndsl plan make me even wonder why im wasting my time posting this.

Current plan: NDSL 25GB

Modem sync speed- 1500KBS/125KBS (never changes)

Line Rate 15173 Kbps  1199 Kbps
Attainable Line Rate 15808 Kbps 1216 Kbps
Noise Margin 10.9 dB 12.4 dB
Line Attenuation 7.5 dB 1.7 dB
Output Power 0.0 dBm 12.8 dBm

Since being "upgraded" to the LLU Slingshot plan I've had my local speed halve and my international down to 1/10th the old speed... Line speed on the modem still says 17mbit though so must be a Slingshot-end issue.

Hi Fink thanks for the info on the 25GB plan when I was on that plan it was not as bad but by the sounds of things the main downgrade in speed occurred through December and it sounds like all Naked DSl plans are having this issue. I seem to get ok speeds with NZ traffic but overseas internet traffic is extremely slow. Hopefully Slingshot can come up with a solution just waiting for news.

Ok thought I would try a speedtest net test from New Plymouth to Auckland modem stats all goo d even unplugged ATA linksys to see it speed any better here are the results. Download 1.08 Mb/s Upload 0.56 Mb/s Ping 66 ms  Grade F slower than 82% of NZ.
 Time 2.11pm schools still in.
Most overseas streaming media won't play including most youtube TV on demand NZ stopping and starting takes a while to buffer . Just an update NZ internal speed's are worse too.

So after being slowed down significantly for the last week, my speed are back to normal. Since I didn't do anything on my end when this happened I assume it was an issue on the Slingshot side?
