I understand the AYCE plan is throttled but what about the 100GB plan for example? If so, is it between certain hours or is some other method used to determine when the available bandwidth is congested and is it just international P2P or are downloads(Youtube for example) affected? Thanks

I'm on the 150GB plan, internet is very quick, feels quicker than when I was with VF, P2P usually maxes out my line at around 1.7MB/s, gamings good all the time, Youtubes very good, very rarely need to buffer, much better than the experiences I had a few years back. I'm with Xtra and I don't even hit those speeds. If your speed is typical I'll be switching :)

Speeds really depend on your sync speed, it hardly varies from isp to isp if you aren't being shaped.

Being in Wanganui I was connected to the Exchange via wholesale with VF, after changing to SS with their own equipment my sync went from 12 to 16 DN, 05 to 1.1 UP. I realize that but as long as P2P could hit 500KB/s at any time of day while still being able to browse etc I would be happy. Before I moved Xtra about 5 years ago I was with Orcon who severely strangled P2P at peak times...that really sucked. I'm paying about $108 for phone and 60GB with Xtra so $92 for phone and 100GB is really tempting as long I don't feel like I'm back to the Orcon days.

I was on the AYCE plan however decided to go back to a 250gb plan cos it was slightly cheaper and I never went anywere near 250gb per month. I often get national speeds of 1.6MBps my line syncs at 15Mbit, I play minecraft a lot (LOL) and I can not see a difference between LAN and Internet servers. --------------------------------------------------------------- Nebukadnessar ISP: Slingshot (250gb Rollover) - Better Network Speed: 13/1.7 xDSL AnnexM - Cisco 877

Me too, depends on the time of day, but at peak times I'm getting 1MB/s, during the day at some periods and late at night I can get up to 1.7MB/s. I don't mind the fluctuating speeds because it's not exactly slow, I don't have problems and I have lots of bandwidth. I got a new modem from them to test, but it's actually faster with my other modem, and I have wireless N with the other one. However, maybe someone can say if this is normal: for the first time in a long time I've had call to grab files from Rapidshare, and although it's completing the files properly, as far as I can tell, the speed is doing this (Rapidshare free): Is this normal for Rapidshare free?

Traffic is actively managed with DPI (deep packet inspection) on all Slingshot plans both those with a data cap and un-metered.

Ye thats normal. Rapidshare free recently started capping all downloads to a max of 30kb/s on average. So you can download at say 300kb/s but then it will pause and resume so it averages at 30kb/s. and i'm getting pretty much the same speeds as those above. Torrents maxing at 1.9mb/s,no need to buffer anything. 17 mbit down .85 mbit up. really happy with this plan so far. (im living in north shore, auckland, so most likely higher than other areas).
