Is there a large outage with Orcon?

I haven't been able to get an Genius ADSL connection since Saturday (5 days) and after a second phone call for help have been told by the tech support that my ADSL connection is part of a larger problem with no time frame on when it will be fixed. There is nothing showing on the Network Status page and I have recently had work done to move a jack point so I'm not sure what's happening.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Our office in Rotorua city use Orcon ADSL (not Genius) and they've had no issues.

Do you get any connection at all ? Do the logs show any errors ? Are you getting DSL sync ?

Hi,

Are you able to PM me with your account name?  Then I can check if you're affected by a current known outage or not and follow up accordingly.

Regards

Dan

If there is a current known outage (anywhere, anytime) , wouldnt it be best to put it on the network status page....  then saves these sorts of posts :)

There's no DSL connection. The Genius modem flashes Blue for a short while (trying to sync?) and then goes a solid pink colour for a while (failed?) before repeating. The modem's wireless and wired connections work.

There are dozens every day which generally affect only a very small number of subscribers.  It would be impractical to do so.

There was an issue yesterday with Telecoms BUBA service, which might have confused things.

Sounds like you have a line fault however if you haven't got Sync. I suggest calling the helpdesk back and getting a fault open.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks. I have rung support back (answered first ring!) and they want to try a hard reset first. I this doesn't work then I will log a line fault.

Big thanks to Orcon for organising a guy from Chorus (also big thanks) to come and fix the line the very next day! All good now and back to full speed. Cheers guys.
