Brandonrnz: Anyone else finding it very slow today? When ever it gets really slow to browse etc the pings to Australia are getting over 200ms, then when it speeds up it's back to 45, local pings/speed are fine. It's really effecting gaming imo.

Everything seems back to normal for me now, since this morning. Had terrible international speeds for about two days or so. My pings weren't affected, just the ingress bandwidth (egress bandwidth was not affected).

Maybe do a traceroute to see if there's a problem node along the path.

Not sure why, but my pings out of NZ are very high, over 1000ms to Sydney, WTF ORCON!
Locally test's normal, Orcon's server always seems slower than others :P
This is just pathetic Orcon, pretty much unusable right now.

Not sure what's going on, but as you can see, when ever my connection suddenly gets on a go-slow (feels slower than 256K to surf the web, can't even buffer YT videos) my ping jumps insanely high, yet local pings are fine.  Been having these issues since the massive international problem the other night, reset my routers, ONT etc...

So, this morning the ping seems fine, speeds aren't too bad, lets hope it lasts the day.

Here's a test to Sydney again, see the difference in ping.

Can you please paste some debug information and your Orcon ticket number please? I assume you logged a helpdesk fault when this was happening?

Seems to be working fine now, feels like I was being throttled, would be quick on some websites, then if I tried to watch a video on YT etc it would just grind to a halt...

Gaming has gone to crap tonight, getting 500ms++ in World of Warcraft so whatever you fixed hasn't been fully sorted out. Was fine during the day.

I hear ya, the internet just gets slow, international speed tests are slow, pings are high, makes online gaming shocking, fibre definitely is not running the same as it was a week ago (it was mighty quick, now feels bad as old adsl, if that.)

EDIT: Also to add, Youtube is utterly useless tonight, if videos load, its at less than 100KB/s, then they just stop loading, and you can't play the video, it's usually 1+MB/s for me.

Every now and again this happens with Orcon. We then point out they didn't order enough international bandwidth, they disagree, then a week or so later then realise they hadn't and order more. Been that way the last few years with Orcon.

Yeah, sounds about right.  Trying to get an update for Skype down, starts out at 800KB/s, promptly drops to 30KB/s, and won't go any faster.

Yep slow speeds once again way da go orcon.

I’ve been on fibre for 1 week and most of the time speeds have been slower than my old adsl connection. I have yet to see fibre speeds at night time, the only time I can download at fibre speed is early in the morning.

This is not acceptable Orcon sort your issues out.

Im getting these high ping times, cept I am on unlimited (Already did the change plan to the metered - Got a few more days before that happens). I'm REALLY hoping that the ping times drop once on the metered as playing my normal games for the past 3 months has just got worse.

Yep, garbage speeds tonight too, clearly orcon have an issue or 5.

Speedtest to aussie, was 27/9Mb/s before that massive international problem they had a few days ago.
The ping time on that test was alright, but often randomly shoots up to 150+ms

Had a iTunes movie download running before, was a SD movie.  Was downloading at 70KB/s, started off at 2.2MB/s.
Trying to watch a stream on Twitch.tv, it's loading at a grand 30KB/s & stopping to buffer every 5 seconds, this is beyond pathetic orcon, wth happend!?

Yep I’m having the same issue can’t even watch youtube at 360p without it buffing every few seconds.

Trying to ring Orcon to complain but I have been on hold for 30mins so far.
