If my Prime UHF reception is poo, does this mean my DTT reception will be equally poo?
Does the fact I use to get UHF Sky recpetion make any difference?

The current Sky England/NZ cricket tour is produced in HD. You may of noticed a difference in the SD transmission?

My UHF reception is terrible. Snowy and such. Perfect DTT.
Sky has been filming the cricket in HD? Yet they still broadcast in 4:3 SD and give the same to tv3?

spideronfire: New version of GB-PVR out today sound works perfectly now with MONOGRAM AAC Decoder.

http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR10209.msi
http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/download/filters/mm_aac_dec_0.9.2.0_bin.zip

Extract the AAC Decoder to a folder and in a command window type "regsvr32 C:\*folder*\mmaacd.ax"

Also anyone notice the Kordia Reserved 1HD channel has become Freeview | HD and last time I look it was showing the making of the sony bravia bunnies video in HD but I couldn't get any sound.

That looked easy I thought - GBPVR installs fine - dowloaded monogram and ran the code - all good

bwahhhh no sound - I'm using vista HP . Question is, under gbpvr config, I do not see a new option for sound playback - I was usig ac3 filter, the other options are cyberlink and mpeg audio decoder. Help?

sub: I'm as eager as the next guy for HD, but it does say on that same page:

The Freeview Digital Terrestrial (DTT) platform goes live in March/April 08. Will you broadcast in HD from the start?
No, but the Freeview DTT Set Top Box will be HD capable from day one and ready to receive.

From Wellington tonight DVBViewer was reporting

TV1,TV2, HD channel 1280x720 50fps
TV3 1920x1088 25fps
TV6,TV7,C4, Maori, Parliament and Sport 720x576 25fps

So they are all testing HD

I heard last night (and this is unofficial) that the launch date will now be the the 30th March which will tie in with the TVNZ7 and new Maori Channel launches.

The official launch date and details of decoders will apparently go public today.

Just finished setting it up on my existing Mediaportal comp.  Using a ASUS P7131SE card combined with a PVR-150 (gotta have prime!).  So far its working perfect.  Im using the aerial that came with the card (I have a sneaky suspision the landlord doesnt actually have an aerial of any sort on the roof as Ive been getting better reception with bunny ears! - 3 story place and its too hard to go up and check).  Setup was nice and easy, tv guide worked perfectly, even with TVNZ6, just no descriptions(Ive been using xmltvnz).  Was more than able to record multipule streams at once (could anyone give me the heads up on the rules to this?  Im guessing you can record from each pool but not in the same pool multipule times (eg tvnz, kordia etc).

Only issue Im having at the moment is the whole widescreen thing. Anyone know how to make everything widescreen - it looks very odd on my TV - Ive tried the settings in MP for width and it doesnt seem to do anything - stretch (which I normally use) doesnt change the aspect at all - Im guessing I can go stretch 13/9 - I'll give that a shot later and see.

I was looking for news of the release when I read this page on the official freeview site about the requirements to not only have a HDMI capable TV (so no support for analog HD, such as component in?) but it must support HDCP.  Do this mean Freeview (or actually the stations) will be enforcing the ICT (?) flag and not letting people with HDTV sets with only component in get HD, only downscaled SD?  Or am I reading this wrong?

They will probably be using the tag, but the transmissions are free and Mediaportal/MythTV/GBPVR ignores the ICT flag.
If you choose the STB method however this could be the case, however some STBs might ignore it also.

The problem is the copyright owners (read big US companies) require the broadcasters to use the ICT flag on HD transmissions. Also freeview STBs will only do HD over HDMI, but some 3rd party STBs might do HD over component.

Is it just me or is the frame rate difference between 50fps and 25fps really noticeably in TVserver + mediaportal? Tv One and 2 are smooth but Tv3 and TVNZ6 are both jittery for me, and TV3 gets a sort of motion blur when people move around. Didn't notice it in DVBviewer but haven't used that in a wee while, will try again shortly

No press release today?

What de-interlacer are you using for TV3 and TVNZ6?
