The PC below with 8500GT and Hauppauge HVR3000 works well.

I am getting the super fast channel change and am getting a small amount of blockiness (less than 1 sec)during the change. However, I am pretty sure the blockiness only started after I added the third party security suite.

Other thoughts are that the picture is sharper and smoother than before (see sig) and its fast. I have pinned the shortcut to play live tv on MC startup and the picture and sound are running before the MC splash is finished.

Working fine with Geforce 8400GS 512, P4 3.4 (LGA) 2GB RAM and a Hauppauge HVR1110 (Low cpu usage also...)

Windows 7 x64 works with the following:

NVidia Geforce 8800 GTS 512
Hauppauge HVR2200
Core 2 Duo 3GHz, 4Gb RAM

Some minor problems:
- TV3 audio 'jitters', picture does sometimes too.
- Only getting EPG for TVNZ Sport Extra

Hardware acceleration with the 8800 GTS works fine, CPU usage usually < 10%.

Anyone else having problems with the error reporting service consuming heaps of cpu? I had to block it to stop it constantly uploading data to MS.

Hate to tell you but the GTS does not provide full hardware acceleration. It uses the G80 core that provides some but not all of the required hardware decoding.

Read here for more on it.

This could well be what is causing the issues with TV3.

Have you applied the patch mentioned here? Before applying that, error reporting will go nuts.

Nety, the 8800GTS 512 uses the G92 core while the 8800GTS 320 & 640 have the G80 core. mjward is correct that it does hardware accel of h.264 Smile

Thanks limegreen that patch sorted the error reporting - and fixed my EPG problem :-). It's actually available through Windows Update now (I noticed just after I'd downloaded it!).

I'd seen someone else say the 8800 GTS didn't have hardware acceleration which confused me at the time as I definitely had it working (< 10% cpu usage). rhysb is right - the 512 uses the G92 core, which does support full HD.

Oh and btw I thought the TV3 issues were happening both on my computer and via the XBox 360 media centre extender. Turns out it's only happening on the xbox - audio/video on the computer is fine.

I have to say it is REALLY annoying how Nvidia are doing this.. just noticed earlier reading though that info that "new" 8400GS cards support V3 where as the older ones and 8500GT,8600GT etc. support V2 only!

What is the idea of having one model but different core GPU that's just crazy. Especially as it is almost impossible to find out what core any particular card has.

It looks like a fix is not to far away for those affected by the NOVA-T 500 bug. It also looks like you will need a newer build of Windows7 (at least 7057) in addition to the updated driver from Hauppauge. Not an ideal solution for us NOVA-T 500 users, but its a start.

Good Morning all and Hi,

As you can see im new to the forums and all and have been reading and following for the last week or so. And im still not sure that this should be in this post but here goes.

Now I just got myself a HVR-3000 and yes im running Win7 Build 7057. I am in no way able to setup Any of the tuners inc the software that came with the card.

Am I doing something wrong? Ive follow pretty much every guide that i could find, I have a UHF antenna and I also have Sky's satellite dish pluged in and I cant even get a signal, but if i plug it back into the TV which is almost right next to me i get great pictures.

Let me know if theres any log's i need to post or spec's.

EDIT: Forgot to say Ive just done a clean fresh install of Win7, Mediaportal and WinTV7 Drivers and IR.

Windows 7 media centre works well with DVB-T.  Including subtitles.  Win TV6 which comes with HVR 3000 would not work at all.   Bill
