turb: Is unblock-us just for the US? I'm probably more interested in UK content & UK Netflix. (This next bit probably belongs in a different forum, but I don't know where to put it). Is it possible to buy plane tickets at UK prices using these type of services? I have a UK credit card. UnoTelly (alternative to Unblock US) allows you to watch UK Netflix, BBC and iTV to name three. In fact UnoTelly has features that allow one person in your house to be watching US Netflix and the other person watching UK Netflix at the same time (assuming your internet is up to the task) - this is all for just ONE Netflix subscription. If using UnoTelly or Unblock you cannot buy air tickets from the UK as both these services only work for the specific services (web sites) that they both promote on their web pages. So for instance just because you have UnoTelly it does not mean you can access every US TV channel that has a web based catch up service - UnoTelly has to have enabled that as part of their service first.

Slightly off topic, I have bought heavily discounted airline tickets before at South African prices on a South African website. Generally you will need a South African address and credit card though. I did this without a VPN. Offense can never be given, only taken ...

Im not going to go jumping thru hoops and paying third parties just to be able to pay money to a company too disorganized to take my money directly and easily. Till there is a working service in NZ that delivers decent 1080 or better content to me on a timely basis then its the pirate bay all the way for me (and other similar sites) rdio has absolutly killed the amount of music I torrent. Till there is the same for video, why change what works? Richard rich.ms

Till there is the same for video, why change what works? iTunes? Well for movies at least. Movies tend to be available on iTunes within a day or two of the DVD release.

I wont install itunes on any of my computers. If they sold via a webpage then I would consider it but I fail to see the need for a bloated app to get a subsciption service. Richard rich.ms

Why would you want to hide your torrenting? Offense can never be given, only taken ...

Will only work with the specific TV/video/music/radio sites that UnoTelly have enabled - see their web site. If you are getting really technical, ask them a question on their site - they are really responsive, in fact their customer service is second to none.

How do you feel about things like Open Source software? Say I wanted to use some code licensed under the GPL and didn't want to share it back because that would expose some stuff I did? Well, I don't agree with their license terms so I'll just take it anyway. That's justifiable because they aren't offering me the code on terms I agree with. Cheers - N

Why are people using US gift cards to buy from Itunes? Is it because they launch sooner in the US, are cheaper or larger library. I haven't yet purchased a movie on Itunes but I'm considering it. I tried Quickflix for a while but the content is too old, I want to be able to watch a movie on a whim and I want it to be something I've seen advertised recently not pick from an old back catalog. At the moment I can do this (Seedbox) but I'd happily pay $30 ish a month for something like Netflix (legit, here) and even $7 pay per view. I've put Windows 8 on my HTPC (and installed Media Center, working exactly as it did on Win7) so in theory I can rent movies from Microsoft at pretty reasonable PPV rates. I like their tech, the movie starts a bit blocky while it buffers behind the scenes and then fines up to very watchable HD very quickly. Haven't yet paid and watched a full movie there either but I really must.

One of the things I like iTunes (the US store that is) for is as a movie rental service. Decent prices and better than DVD quality. And heaps more content than the NZ store.
