taylorit: Hi there, I've got mine going with ProgDVB & DVBSBridge and ndscam 0.0.0.5 I have to use bladerunner pro to grab the guide provided by DVBSBridge, what is the TV Pack you talk of, is this the released fiji update for Vista..? if so do you know where you can download it from..? if it comes as a windows update..? I'm keen to install a second Nova-S card and have a play with that will the TV pack help with recording one sky and watching another same as what I did with my old PVR 500MCE and 2x decoders..? cheers.. keep up the good work :-)

Yes it is the Fiji update for vista. Im not sure if Im allowed to post links so I wont but you can find it easily enough on The Green Button and several other places. It does not come as an official windows update unfortunately for alot of people, it is being released on new OEM machines. Some people can install it over their existing setup but others are having to do fresh installs of vista to get it going properly. Have a read of the thread here on Geekzone and some of the many of TGB. I havent installed it yet so cant comment on too many details but many many people have done so have a nosey around.

The Green Button is owned by Microsoft, and MS employees are contributing to the thread which has a link to the leaked upgrade.  They have said that they will not take down the link, almost endorsing it (but not officially).

I see no reason why a link to it cannot be posted here, but I would imagine that the Mod here would have more conservative views on the matter.  Regardless, it can be found in the official MS announcement on the TV pack at TGB.

I plan to install it this Friday, along with my new Jaycar reader for Sky.  I plan to do a fresh install of Vista SP1 anyway to get rid of all the registry hacks I've done to try and get two tuners working and xmlTVNZ working etc.

RustyGonad: ... however there are still some bugs which I haven't got my head around yet  - some of these are a carryover from the Fiji beta.

Rusty, are you having the problems recording from the guide like others using the TV Pack are reporting? Do you use the Freeview  guide data or the SKY data (for channels on both)?

Cheers for the info, wise move doing a fresh install. When I last rebuilt my machine I created 3 snapshots using the microsoft system backup tools in Vista, one fresh install, one all patched, last one all patched and nova-s and video drivers loaded. Each time I just renamed the backup folder, so worse case I just retore to the last one (no divx codecs, no reg hacks, media center not even configured) then start from there instead of the day long process of getting everything running and downloading hunderds of megs of updates etc..

Be interested to see how you go with 2x cards as I want to get another NOVA-S and have a play.. (after the wife approves the purchase.. hahahahhaa)

Awesome

Will it be possible to use the methods described in this thread, or other methods to view the HD streams on an HTPC?

Haven't had any issues recording from the guide.  Works like a charm every time.

I use the DVBSBridge EIT data, which is in effect either the Freeview, or Sky EIT stream depending on the channel.

The only issue I've had is with dual tuners, sometime the DVBSBridge tuner gets all screwed up and empties its bowels all over the screen - looks similar to rain fade ie mpeg blocking.

I'm still running on an 'old' build of Vista which has also has the old Fiji beta installed on it.  Not sure if the problem exists on a clean build or not, I'll probably do one later in the week.

In theory yes if the software and card you are using supports DVB-S2 which i think is what sky uses for HD. Pretty much you need an HVR-4000 or Nova-HD-S2.

Has anyone got this working with dual tuners? Ive done multimux recording ok but when I try changing to a different transponder while recording (this is mediaportal with mdapifilter) it starts a new instance of ndscam which can't get the keys off the card because its already in use by the first instace of ndscam open'd when I tuned the first channel (hope you follow me lol)

I am going to try and set this up this weekend using the Jaycar card reader, and Hauppauge Nova-s card but would appreciate a bit of advice on how to set the cardreader up properly.

I have had a friend build the Jaycar kit for me (a bit beyond my soldering skills!) Can anyone tell me what the jumpers need to be set to? ie JP1 to SMOUSE or PHOENIX; JP2 to 6MHZ or 3.5975MHZ? I presume the cardreader needs a driver - where do you get that from?

I am running Vista Ultimate (32 bit) and have a copy of the TV Pack that I plan to use on a fresh install.

Any other advice on setting up ProgDVB and DVSBridge when using the TV Pack would be appreciated too.

Cheers
Matt

my fresh vista x64 MCE tv pack install with 2 x nova-s cards worked fine.  i'm not running it full time yet as i havent had a chance to find the optimal solution in x64 for mkv/xvid

my twin nova-s xp mce has been rock solid since freeview sat was released though

EDIT:  oops, forgive me - i forgot this was the sky on htpc thread,  not the fiji/mce thread.  i dont have the cards/cams loaded for either install as i no longer have sky!
