Quick update: Installed version 1.65 and it went right away :) just need to tweek it a bit now, thanks for you help!

One quick question out of intrest what is "TS" and why would delaying it help matters (the TSdelay switch that you talked about in mdapifilter) excuse my ignorance im still learning all this stuff

Now the next step is just to tidy it all up as NewCS is just an application at the moment which isn't overly wonderful.

Have you tried newcsgui 1.2? you can get it here:
http://www.skystar.org/arsiv/index.php?dir=cardsharing/newcs/&sort=a&sortMode=m

It hides the dos prompt and places a gui version in the tray, just put all the \bin folder into the win32 folder of newcs and run newcsgui, BTW for me it didn't like running from the \program files\ folder, so i placed newcs folder straight off C:\ and it was humming Smile

TS refers to the media stream coming off DVB. Mediaportal defaults to recording in TS format with TVService.

The reason it may stop any stuttering is that this is caused by an updated key not being available to decrypt the encryped stream immediately so if the decryption is delayed by say 1000ms and the key exchange is taking 800ms then the new key will always be available when it's needed.

At the moment when I reboot I have to manually set the transparent boost for the Infinity VCP application to 2.0x or I get an occasional stuttering but at 2.0x that disappears totally.

I've been told that setting the transparent boost using parameters to launch VCP will be available in the next version so hopefully this won't be an issue for long but would be nice to have a fix now.

When I said I want to tidy everything up I was wanting to get NewCS to launch as a service but so far no luck on that. At the moment I've resorted to running a batch file at logon which waits for 15secs before launching NewCS. This seems to give the Infinity USB VCP utility time to load and set up the COM port correctly but is still a bit messy.

NewCS is currently running in c:\program files\NewCS without an issue so not sure why you would have had to move it to c:\NewCS. I can't remember what is in the config file but if the program dir is referenced I'd normally use either progra~1 or "program files" which I guess worked.

Thanks for the heads up on the gui tool. Will take a look when the MP box is free. =)

On another issue anyone have any issues with the picture locking up at 1080p? At 720p it's very stable and no issues but at 1080p the audio will continue fine but the video will be in a 1-2s loop. Advancing the video gets rid of it but it is a bit of a pain and meant I've just gone back to 720p for now.

I'm pretty sure that I've had the same issue with both the FFDShow and PowerDVD7 decoder but not 100% on FFDShow. I doubt it's MDAPI or associated stuff changing the video output wouldn't result in a fix if that were the case. So I'm either thinking it's the ATI drivers for the 3850 video card, the codec, or the TSWriter.

Anyone having the same thing or any ideas?

I think the ATI drivers are up to date or if not then not very far behind.

Klathman: Well I've finally got a second sat card so can confirm that using newcs and MDAPI2008 will allow multiple NDS decodes simultaneously. I haven't tried decoding multiple channels on the same card at this stage but can't see why this wouldn't work either.

The only gotcha is that each client connection to newcs needs to have it's own user account but this is easy enough to set up.

Now the next step is just to tidy it all up as NewCS is just an application at the moment which isn't overly wonderful.

Cool, are you using Vista MCE or Media Portal..? also if using Vista do you use DVBSBridge still and something like ProgDVB..?

I'm using Mediaportal.

Last week I had some funky issues that I think were caused byt EMM updates being required which was a bit quicker than I expected as an overnight visit in the sky box fixed everything again.

I found that a good way to spot it is that in MediaPortal with DVB-S EPG that the EPG updates stop working for some channels and that NewCS will start spitting (NOT OK) messages when trying to grab the EPG for it. I was just getting annoyed that the normally reliable EPG updates weren't working for a while until I realised what was actually happening.

Hey guys,
Haven't been following this thread for the past few months, can someone give me an overview of the developments?
I see NewCS or something being discussed, is this an alternative to NDSCam or just another card sharing app that works with with our
Are 45XX cards still required? If i have a 45XX card will it work flawlessly with HD Video now? And through what applications?

Just interested in whats going on.

There were a number of questions raised early by people about whether or not your Sky card would go inactive after being out of the Sky STB after a period of time.

Well I can confirm that this is actually correct.  I sat down to watch the cricket last night and low and behold, I did not have access to any channels.  I had to call Sky and get them to reactivate my card.

I must make a diary note to put the card in the Sky STB every couple of months overnight to ensure it does not deactivate again...

Got HD working just fine...

Using Windows 7 7000, DVBDream 1.4 w/NDSCam 0.007 via DVBSBridge.

Picture is perfect with no glitches.

I would use NewCS but it doesn't want to go - either the Jaycar reader or the serial ports in my machines don't want to play ball... Anyone got it working with a Jaycar?

Hi all,
Spent a few hours yesterday playing with getting the released version of MediaPortal up and going and then started to play with Mdapifilter2008.

This is where confusion set in.  I am at the point with mdapifilter that it says I need to put the plugin into the relevant card folders... What plugin would that be??  Is this where the NewCS bit comes into play?

I had a brief look at the NewCS stuff, but the Readme is a little scrambled in notepad, are there some clearer instructions somewhere or do I need to tidy up the readme?

Thanks!

Hi,

Ive found the newcs also out of alignment in notepad - just open it with wordpad and it will be all ok.

Generally once you have newscs set up - you need an mdapi addin (like ndscam for sky users) - or Acamd (or irdeto card users).  There are of course many others available.

I dont use medaportal so i cannot give you any specifics about where exactly to put the addins.

The Latest version of the MDAPIFilter 2008 apparently has an inbuilt cardclient (thus removing need for ndscam/acamd).  However to date i havent been able to get it working with Irdeto card.  Maybe it works fine for sky users.

@graemer
with the card folder in MDplugins you put a mdapi plugin like NDSCAM for eg. When you tune a channel with that card mdapifilter will start that plugin and communicate with the plugin and mediaportal (in the case of NDSCAM it will read your NDS card and decrypt the video stream so it can be viewed in mediaportal). you don't need NewCS if your using ndscam. This method will allow you to watch one encrypted channel at a time.

When i first found this thread I didn't have access to a 45xx card so stopped following. Now I have access to a 45xx this thread has become very cluttered can someone start a new thread with clear instructions on how they got sky to work in media portal i.e. hardware setup, software setup

Thanks for any help you guys can give
