If you folks ever had this problem, check Ed's "A fix for Media Center's Black Screen of Death":

"One of the biggest problems that I’ve run into with HDMI connections is one I fondly call the “black screen of amnesia.” This occurs when you power up a device and the TV doesn’t recognize it. Sometimes, flipping to a different input on the TV and then back to HDMI is enough to jog the connection into working again. But I’ve occasionally had to power everything down and restart in the right sequence to get things working."

I had this a couple of times, and IIRC my setup was "TV" not "flat pannel". Changed it now.

Hmm interesting. I have had the black screen of death but it for me has been a once in a blue moon so I have never looked into what causes it. I found for me a Windows key + E (to open explorer) and then a Alt - Tab would flick me out of the media centre interface and wake up the screen. I do have the flicky flick when when going into and out of the MCE full screen interface so would be nice to get rid of that. Thanks for the link.

I ran though this and it has got rid of the screen flashing when entering and exiting full screen media centre.
It also has had an additional benefit. I use Riva tuner to switch the refresh rate to 24Hz when TotalMedia Theater starts for watching Blu rays. However I have always had a problem when when TMT exits the refresh rate would more often then not flick but not revert back to 50Hz. I would have to minimise MC and then maximise it to return the refresh rate. This change has fixed this issue.
