@ Saltynz
@kyhwana2

Hey as my user name suggests I'm not too technical. I take a photo using my phone and choose send, it is programmed to send using MMS. It has both wifi and 3g capability. How do I change its settings so it will send a photo using either of these two options you suggest?

and P.S.  how do I use the forum to put the original message I am replying to in a box like SaltyNZ has

Thanks

Well, to get the box, click the 'Quote' button.

In answer to your other question though, it really depends on your phone. I only have iOS devices here and so I can't really tell you anything about Android or Windows Phone. And if it's a feature phone (ie. not one of the above*), then it's really device dependent.

Anyway, for iOS, take your picture and then click on the little thumbnail in the corner of camera app or exit out and go into the Photos app. Once there there's an icon which is a rectangle with an arrow pointing out of it. Click that and then you can choose which method to use to send the photo.

If you have more than one email setup then you select it once you click 'Email'.

Wow just like magic. Thanks
I take it no one sends photos from phone to phone anymore. It's just that not everyone has a smart phone but they nearly all have a phone with mms and can accept photos sent this way. If I swap out my 2D sim for another provider the photos will send via mms as they have a higher limit.
Like I said earlier not a biggy
Thanks for the quick informative reply

I guess if most phones have at least a 5megapixel camera and some are coming out with 8, then no, I don't think it does.

More importantly email is mostly free. MMS costs you 50c every time.

but again, not all phones have email capability, other providers can send bigger mms  and it's my 50c  ;-)

ubernoob:, other providers can send bigger mms

<shrug>It's about the same on Vodafone unless they've increased it lately. On Telecom it's 480KB, again, unless they've increased it lately. Either way you're not going to gain much, especially if you ARE sending to another phone that can't handle email.

...ah ha there's the rub. I'm NOT sending to another phone because of the low 300kb limit. I guess MMS will go the way of CDMA and as phone manufacturers put more and more features and programmes in, the older ones will fall out.
Thanks for your comments SaltyNZ
