It's a hit and miss and it is not certified. I am told sometimes it works, sometimes not. You need the 2degrees SIM. There's a Java applet that runs on the SIM and provides the security identification to the app. Other non 2degrees Snapper SIM cards will allow you to read/top up someone else's card, but won't make your handset work as a Snapper card. Is this a 2Degrees only technology for a while or will Voda and Telecom jump on the bandwagon as well?

Anybody can use the technology, it's just a matter of VF and Telecom deciding what solution to use for the secure element, ie SIM based or phone based. All 3 have signed a deal for a single TPM solution. *Need help configuring your Linksys ATA or IP Phones for New Zealand? Check my blog post

lchiu7: ... I will swap my son's phone number onto this SIM and see if the technology works on a non-certified phone. The 2D guys last night ware not sure it would work or not and to try it out! If not then I will just wait till they release a revised app that works on more model phones and I am only out of pocket $5. How'd it go? :-)

I've heard that the Telecom/Vodafone Galaxy SIII's may not have the correct APIs to work with the full Snapper solution, even if you use a 2degrees Touch2Pay SIM card. But they should still be able to read/write to Snapper cards, even with a standard Telecom/Vodafone SIM. I can confirm that a VF supplied handset won't work with the Snapper app, even if a Touch2Pay SIM is used. I've been down to the 2deg store with my SIM and the app won't pick up the fact that it is a Touch2Pay SIM, it asks you to use one, even though there is already one in the phone. The SIM card worked fine in their display model, leading me to believe that the VF firmware is missing the APIs.

Can confirm this as well - I've got the 2degrees snapper sim in my Telecom branded SGS III and the widget doesn't work. However, I am able to use my phone as a snapper card, just not see my balance on the widget. Is there any way to download the necessary API?

I assume this means that it won't work on something like Cyanogen Mod then? (Apologies if it's already covered - I haven't read the whole thread). If not, then does anyone know if there's a feature request for CM that's requesting the necessary APIs?
