500MB is not a typo..

paymonthly customers migth not move onto this one coz lowest pay monthly is $29 and they get 100 bonus minutes on top of 60 till they are a customer but if they come on to this option, this promotion finishes next january... unless they officially state on their website that those who has grabbed this promotion will keep on getting it.. even after january, 2013

A lot can happen between now and January 31st. In the meantime lets be grateful for the competition and enjoy the new plans. After perhaps 3 decades of mobile phone use I am finally getting the feeling that I am not paying through the nose.
Regards,
John.

Well, Telecom just announced their $19 pack has been upped to 500MB, now their plan has the same data and texts, and 10 more minutes (assuming you're comparing to the text pack)... Your move 2d :D

Vodafone from what I have seen usually matches what 2degrees offers, rather than beat it.

I would be very surprised if they did beat the competition this time round - I hope I am wrong. Come on Vodafone, don't take months and months to move!

Props to 2degrees for the new perk. Both Telecom and 2degrees are making their products cheaper - it will be too expensive for Vodafone not to follow suit.

Yeah, come on Vodafone, blow the others out of the water with a 60/5000/1GB deal! You might even get me back as a customer if you can do it for $20.

Vodafone wont, they aren't trying to protect against dropping to third

they (vodafone) have such a huge customer base (maybe) that they just dont care about releasing matching plans until the timing suits them.. but one thing is for sure, thats when they choose to do it.. it will be big.. coz they are big enough.. and they can.. they just wait for when the timing suits them or when they see a monthly report which shows they losing more customers..

The $19 packs are tempting but we'd have to bump up our usage to make them worthwhile. In my family we have three prepaid 2degrees phones and each runs around $10-15 a month, with a $30 topup (smallest amount that gets a chunk of free texts) lasting 2-3 months.

I'd also want to be sure before buying a 2degrees value pack again, that the double charging problem is absolutely fixed. Way back when I had a data pack I got charged twice for each monthly auto-renewal more often than not. I know there was a Geekzone thread or two about it, but haven't heard it is definitively sorted.

2degrees had lots of issues couple of years back when they started but since I joined them back after 2yrs.. I haven't run into any of those.. so fingers crossed.. the double charging issue could have been resolved by now. But for peace of mind.. I suggest you call their customer care and make sure of it and also make a note of the date and time and the name of the person who you talk to..
