My friend moved from America to New Zealand. He now has 2 degrees for his cell phone provider and I cant text him from my cell phone unless I pay extra or something like that. So is there a free way to text him from my computer and if so what is the site please. thanks

P.S. sorry if my grammar isnt the best

What sort of phones are you using? If you both have smart phones install apps like google+ messenger it'll sync pc and phone messages and is avaliable on pc, android and ios. It's free and only requires a google account and your your nz mate is the only one that needs a smart phone if your using a pc (smart phones are cheap, starting at $129nzd)

G+ messenger is one of dozens for smart phones, if he doesnt have a smart phone im not sure what you'd use.

EDIT: Spelling and grammar (pffft smart phones)

Try Viber, it's totally free and works with both iphone and android also uses both data and wifi.

If you have an Android device get mySMS. You can then send messages from your browser.

Doesn't mysms use the carrier to send SMS so the costs would be the same as if he text him from his US phone?

If you both have smartphones there are many options that just use the internet via mobile data or wifi like Viber, WhatApp, Skype etc.

Does HE have a smart phone?

Highly recommend these apps (in this order)

Viber (but needs a smartphone at each end).
Whatsapp (but needs a smartphone at each end).
Google Talk (works great for PC at one end, and smartphone at the other).
Facebook Messenger (works great for PC at one end, and smartphone at the other).
Skype (Skype isn't the best for messaging on Smartphones, dedicated IM programs above do a much better job).

If he has a smartphone, just get going with Google Talk really!
