Stupid me and signing my life away to a contract.. however when it eventually expires in ~8 months there will be some glorious prepay deals out (if the current trend continues!) My 7 years of being on contract will definitely becoming to an end!!

The competition in the mobile space in the last few weeks has been amazing, keep it up!

VF just lost another 50,000 customers, this deal might make them jump quicker. It's good to see that competition is finally heating up in NZ! After TC is now on 1.7Mill and 2d is on 1Mil things will heat up for the #2 spot.

And Skinny doesn't seem to be retaining mobile market share at telecom.

Isn't this just copying what Telecom have with 10 less anytime minutes?

My how things change with market share... If you can't beat them, join them eh?? I honestly hope this isn't a slippery slope of 2D morphing into just another regular old lumbering telco. I've enjoyed being a customer of the nimble, competitive 2D and would hate to see that change.

This was 2D's position on on-net deals just over a year ago:

"Consumers would benefit if there was a ban on on-net pricing," 2degrees' point man on regulatory issues Mat Bolland told NBR.

"Kiwis should not have to worry about paying more to call or text friends and family on a different mobile network."

Suppose it also comes down to how much coverage they have on their own network throughout the country. The less they have to pay vodafone for roaming fees the costs of calling come down.

What's the bet this will become permanent... just like the launch mobile broadband zone pack sizes.

Don't see what the benefit in advertising "until $date" when you're likely to make it permanent.  All it does is scare off potential customers who think "well, sure, but I can't be arsed changing providers every 6 months, I'll switch to whoever's non-time-limited plans are the best".

So this wouldn't entice me to switch to 2degrees.  But since I'm already your customer and fully expect this will become permanent, not a problem.
