I was just browsing the 2degrees web site and I noticed that they are no longer promoting 'mobile zone' data packs. Fortunately for me the 12Gb mobile broadband zone pack still appears to be available for purchase through the online portal as this works out at $16.50 for 2Gb per month which is substantially cheaper than the alternative of paying $20 per month for 1Gb on the monthly packs.

It will be interesting to see how much longer this remains available for.

They haven't been widely promoted for a while. There is however was a link to the zone data Page on the NZ Data Page. Only way I have found to access the information. I agree though will be a pity if they stop it.

Are they still updating the zone coverage map?

It's still on the site. Hopefully they will keep updating it because it's interesting to track how their network build out is going.

It'll be interesting to see how long these last. Given theres no equiv from the other players and they are aiming for simplicity, i'd be curious how long these zone plans carry on for.

I have heard that eventually these packs will be discontinued. Reason being they are only valid for data that is used on the 2d network. People have been roaming onto Vodafone and then getting billed for casual data. This causes lots of problems explaining to people that they often need to purchase 2 kinds of data. Much simpler to simply have 1 data rate that is valid regardless of if you are roaming onto Vodafone or not.

I know someone who works for 2d in the call centre. Therefore She has to deal with the "why have I been billed for this" questions.

I hadnt noticed that 2 degrees had changed these.

The newer packs make much more sense - while you might well live inside a 2degrees zone and not go outside of it much - it was a bit of a pain to work out which plan you needed to have.

I am not surprised the poor old call centre bods got a bad time of it.

Great value, really. $20 for 1 gig, or on the zone one $99 for 12 gigs, 6 months to use. I'm ignoring the january extra gig promotion as it's not on going.

Doubling the price of data, funny definition of great value.

I have no fixed line broadband, so I use a 2Degrees mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for my home broadband.

I chew through a 12GB data pack every three weeks.

I'll be gutted if they remove it.

2Degrees, you will lose a (probably more) valued customer if you remove those Mobile Zone Data plans.. don't do it! ;)

The $99 pack is great value but slightly inconvenient in that it doesn't fit into my normal monthly billing cycle. I would be happy with a compromise solution, perhaps by bundling more data with my $29 monthly plan or a monthly plan with a per-megabyte cost that's a bit closer to the $99 plan.

As it stands, though, I get much better value out of the $99 pack than anything else that's currently on offer.

Hi guys

Don't panic! The MBB 12GB and 3GB packs are not being discontinued! :)

'In zone' customers can continue enjoying the great value they offer and we have no plans to get rid of them.

Just a reminder that if you have a Carryover Plan your Carryover data lasts a year, so if you have a MBB data pack and 'in zone' your Carryover Data will build up so at the end of the 6 or 2 months that you have your MBB pack your plan data will still be available, less any that you may have used when on our national roaming network.

Cheers
