Teeps:

Following your advice I did just call customer care but the very helpful guy suggested I should buy from Dick Smith as believed they should be well stocked! Most likey the DS staff not knowing about them!

PM me your details and I'll try and sort something out for you in the meantime...

I'm afraid not - I happen to have *one* microSIM in my drawer I can clean up and send out, but all the rest went out to Dick Smith last week. Sorry!

No, it means there are none I can get my hands on. The SIM swap ones are elsewhere (in the warehouse I think).

Heh yes comments like these will get lots of "me toos"
Me too please, I also was hoping to buy one today, have called three stores and no one knows what I'm on about.

Am I correct that the only way to use Your degrees will be to put the micro sim into a phone first? I guess I'll have to buy a micro sim adapter?

Looking forward to getting online, on the road, with new iPad, i must say!

cheers,
Joseph

I have one of those (along with a SIM cutter but I would seem I need the micro-SIM to be able to use the SMS purchase feature on the iPad so still need one) but if you, or anyone else is in the Welly area you're most welcome to use one or the other to get things going :-)

very kind of you to offer thanks, I think I will see how I get on with getting one from 2 degrees first though as I don't have my iphone yet and still have a vodafone sim I can use until then.

Grrrrr, stupid geekzone and it's stupid "post reply" function.  It just messed up my nicely formatted reply.

Here's the short version.

Go to Warehouse Stationery and buy a $20 SIM for $10, register this and use it to activate your 2 degrees, ring customer service and get a Micro Sim sent out and do a SIM swap when it arrives.

You just made $10 to help pay for your Apple addiction Money mouth

Hi Graemeh,

Thanks for your suggestion, yep I think you might be onto the best way to get it done.

Cheers,

SaltyNZ: ... Be aware though that we tried every trick we could think of, but the iPad, while it does actually receive the SMS, refuses to do anything useful with it.

*Sigh* This sort of arbitrary limitation is a big part of why I don't get excited about apple products.

bazbo: does anyone know if Dick Smith stores have stock of micro sims today? Is it all stores or just selected ones?

Ta.

Dick smith stores round the country should have a stock of microSIMs available. They are $20ea. I know for a fact that the Colombo street store in Christchurch has about ten of them

The only advice we can give at the moment is the same as for Telecom - either get an adapter or a phone that will hold it in place with a bit of fiddling, and then register for SCP. Once you've got that text you're OK.
