Asked 2Degrees tech support they say that it will take them sometime before they will complete testing but they have heard good things from several users. Bottom line I think ...don;t hold your breath but keep your fingers crossed.

Don't think they have fixed issues with the amtel touchscreen yet either in the official GB, I wonder how many people have the amtel screen version in NZ.

With the white X5's from warehouse stationary and the warehouse it seems 50/50 whether you get synaptics or amtel.

I got an atmel so I am avoiding 2.35 kernel until problems get worked out. There is a fix on xda, but I am still not chancing it yet.

i tried that, losing OC. over sensitivity seems fixed - can no longer trigger it with fingers a few mm above screen.

but screen is still laggy overall (like on stock 2.2.1), compare to some other devices tried (moto defy, sony arc, LG black, n samsung sii)

Are you running Oxygen atm Paul? How is it with the amtel screen? I haven't had time to try it.

Atm I'm still just running stock as it's still a big upgrade over my the old Ideos U8150 even with it was runnig Dronix or Fusion.

How does one tell if one has an amtel or synaptics screen?

I'm running Oxygen ATM, so it's safe to say that it's not an amtel?

Not sure if it will work on Oxygen but try this

Otherwise one of the system information apps from the market may be able to tell you.

That dialer method will work on stock rom, but not on custom. An app on the market called elixir 2 will show hardware. it is under a display menu somewhere.

I ran oxygen for a long time and loved it. Was fast and very stable. It runs a .32 (froyo) kernel heavily tweaked by DZO to be fast and battery efficient and caused no touchscreen problems. Camera is also good. It has a problem that has been a deal breaker for me with bluetooth though. For me it is slow and volume through bluetooth headset is distorted, but I cant confirm anyone else with the problem and despite swapping lib's and kernel, I could not fix it.

I have now installed Eliterom MIUI which has been really good. Everything works well and the camera is very good, only wifi tethering does not work.

OK.. im keen to try this one... have it booting into clockworkmod (i think) but get a checksum error when trying to choose the ZIP file (miuiportugal_u8800_2.2.10_AIO_Signed.zip - is this the correct file?)

Should be the correct file, maybe try to redownload it as it may have been corrupted. If on windows, use free download manager as you can drag the download link into the program to download and you can run an md5 integrity check on the file after download. MIUI portugal give you the md5 on the download link. Other than that, did you do a full wipe and what recovery are you using?

I installed successfully on 5.0.2.6 recovery over elite rom which was over oxygen.

you also need to be on a 2.2 based phone, if you have done GB update, only retart has a MIUI which will work.

How are peoples' experience with the latest Huawei version? Is this recommended over another rom?
And, does the install typically wipe user data? I'll be doing a backup, but hoping that was merely a precaution.

PS - has anyone with the wifi dropping out issue found that the gingerbread resolves it?

Huawei have responded to us to confirm that if the end user has attempted to install the correct version of software and the update fails or wipes/bricks the device then the handset warranty still applies.

Customers need to copy the data file to a micro SD card to upgrade the handset.

Cheers,

I had the official 2.3GB (2nd update) but it still dropped calls now and then. So I upgraded to ICS, it seems to work the best so far. I am using Aurora 4.03 ver 2.0, so far no problems.
