Hi

Im looking for recommendations for my customer who will be using the Snap VDSL plan

Im looking for a VDSL modem with full bridge mode so i can continue using our Mako Router (ethernet only model) feature set.

Basically something that will be stable and reliable in full bridge mode.

I want to do with authentication with Snap on the Mako not the VDSL modem

thanks!

Hi Dan,

We don't have a bridging-only VDSL unit yet, but the Vigor2750 can be put into bridge mode happily. Depends whether you want to "waste" a full OpenWRT router on bridging Tongue Out

List of places you can buy it over here.

There are a few full birdging modems. The Zyxel base model and Thompson (can't remember models but they are on here) I can confirm first hand both support full bridging.

The Zyxel works fine and I've deployed a lot of them.

There are only 2 models - P870 with wireless and a P870 without wireless. You're presumably not going to want wireless if you're just using bridge mode.

I dont think thats the case, they probably only provide support for the Fritzbox, but their helpdesk has been looking for alternative solutions with a full bridge for me over the last couple days, they were checking the Cisco 887VA when they last emailed me.

btw Props to snap, really good support/help and im not even a customer yet.

staticice.co.nz only has one listing for it, at $340. It would be cheaper to go with Snap's Fritzbox in bridge mode (especially with the current deal).

I was thinking about a cisco 1900 with vdsl hwic, but that's just a little bit expensive....

No idea who they are, but Campbell software are the distributors.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party but just wanted to say we also use a Mako ethernet router and have VDSL running with Snap on a ZyXEL P-870HW-51a v2 in bridge mode, with the Mako doing the PPPoE. Works great.
(I imported it from USA, should have waited a couple more months to buy locally!)

Finally the building is nearly complete so can actually get this up and running soon, VDSL should be live

I managed to get a P-870H-51a- v2 locally which was cool

I dont suppose anyone would like to share their config settings for the Zyxel to turn it into a full bridge?

thanks.
