Hi Guys, I would be interested to hear what you're getting on SNAP's VDSL in regard to line connection speed vs the actual speeds you're getting upload/download. My download speed is close to the line connection speed, but my uploads are only running at about 50% - 60% which doesn't seem right. I'm running a DrayTek 2850Vn router with SNAP VDSL main line and Telecom ADSL2+ for failover. I'm plugged directly into the router via ethernet. Is anyone connected to SNAP using a DrayTek? Details from my router... Online Status > Physical Connection > VDSL Information Profile 17a State Showtime UP Speed 10038272 (9.803 Mbps) Down Speed 21722112 (21.213 Mbps) SNR Upstream 118 SNR Downstream 127 SpeedTest.Net Ping 40ms Download Speed 19.46 Mbps (91% of line speed) Upload Speed 4.69 Mbps (47% of line speed) Any advise on how to improve the upload speed I'm getting? SNR Upstream 169 x 0.1dB = 16.9 Downstream 120 x 0.1dB = 12.0 Note: I think there's something else going wrong with my connection at the moment as I'm getting max. 4 Mbps upload and 1.6 Mbps download. It's dying a slow and painful death...

SNR is different, never mind. Based on your sync rate you should definitely be getting better upload speeds than you are. Sorry, I didn't read your initial post properly, I see you have a Draytek router so my previous instructions are not valid for you.

Snap VDSL in North Harbour Industrial. DrayTek Vigor2750 in bridge mode (UTM appliance behind it doing load balancing, disabled the other VDSL line for this test). Speedtest.net reports 43.8 Mb/s down, 9.0 Mb/s up, 10ms ping. Both 90%+ of line speed. The 2850 and 2750 are completely different devices, the 2850 using DrayTek's older DrayOS 3 platform as OpenWRT (which is replacing DrayOS on DrayTek devices) doesn't support their ADSL chip. Do you know how far you are from the cabinet/exchange? Even the downstream sync speed seems pretty low for VDSL. I work for SnapperNet providing Tech Support for DrayTek modem/routers, Edge-core switches, Mobotix high-res IP cameras, QNAP network storage, Yeastar IP PBXs & more. Anything I say is my own opinion and not necessarily that of Snapper Network Distributors

It would seem strange your modem has sync using 17a. *Need help configuring your Linksys ATA or IP Phones for New Zealand? Check my blog post

Yip it's something that's dynamically assigned, but the fact it's choosing 17a with attenuation figures right on the limit of VDSL2 performance (ie Chorus won't install beyond 10.8dB) is possibly a cause of the issue. I got changed over to VDSL2 this morning, I popped home at lunchtime to check it was working OK. Results were a bit disappointing= Old ADSL2+ Xnet setup was: 20Mbits DSL sync, 18Mbits actual speedtest, 18ms ping New VDSL2 snap! setup is: 33Mbits DSL sync, 13Mbits actual speedtest, 45ms ping Shocking ping in comparison as well as only 39% download speed of the sync rate. I will update with further info tonight, I was clever (well I thought so anyway, lol) and took snapshots of the FritzBox when it was connected with ADSL2+ with Xnet, so I'll do some comparisons. Apparently I am one of very few VDSL customers in Taranaki, lol. The Chorus technician didn't even know what VDSL was, haha, he was just following the jumper instructions, lol. -JASON-

Pings will take time to settle as you'll have 16ms interleaving on by default on VDSL2 to start with, whereas to get 18ms pings before you would have had interleaving off. *Need help configuring your Linksys ATA or IP Phones for New Zealand? Check my blog post

Best way to tell is to look at the DSL tab (assuming you have a Fritz).

Hey guys, I've been posting a few screenshots in the "VDSL2 Tuning" topic. Yes, I did have inter-leaving turned off with the ADSL2+. Just ran a speedtest this morning: I might stick to posting in the other topic from now. Not that I'll have too much to report until we see how the DLM works out over the next couple of weeks. I am able to replace some premises wiring though (all 5metres of it, lol), so I'm planning on doing that. -JASON-
