I'm considering switching to Snap.

I see that 7340 FritzBox has a VPN service, but all the configuration seems to be done using their configuration tool and I cannot find any details about the VPN server in the Fritzbox.

Does anyone know what protocol it uses?  PPTP? L2P? IPSec?

I ask because I need to be able to VPN back into my home network via my iPhone and iPad and I want to make sure that is possible.

I too just started looking at this; haven't got much further than a brief glance at the vpn page on the Fritzbox, but I think it redirects to this page for details:

I had to set IPSEC for my iPhone VPN connection to the Fritzbox. Setting up VPN is not as straightforward as it it on other boxes but it does work. I suggest that you google around for a known working script. The script produced by the Fritzbox tool just did not work for me at all.

Edit: Try this persons script - I cannot recall if this is the one I used but I will check later:
