Hello,

I'm thinking about signing up a Snap VDSL2 connection in Auckland.  I just wanted to find out what Snap are like for gaming.  Do they prioritize gaming traffic at all and do they have enough international bandwidth to support good overseas gaming?

I mostly play GuildWars2 and Dota2 on US West servers.

Thanks
Chris

To the best of my knowledge, snap don't do any shaping. Everything has equal priority.

I don't know any US-West Dota2 or GW2 servers for testing, but from our Snap VDSL connection in Auckland to our Chicago-based web server is 188ms.

I work for SnapperNet providing Tech Support for DrayTek modem/routers, Edge-core switches, Mobotix high-res IP cameras, QNAP network storage, Yeastar IP PBXs & more.
Anything I say is my own opinion and not necessarily that of Snapper Network Distributors

I haven't had any issues with Snap for gaming. I've gone to them with a few weird routing issues such as traffic to some Australian servers going via Hong Kong or whatever which they've resolved within hours which is freaken awesome :)

+1 to their support.

Like everyone else, gaming on my ADSL2+ connection is fine, 9ms pings to Auckland servers, 35ms to east coast aussies servers and 280ms pings to the UK... It's all good here!

Use caution if you're getting VDSL and your primarily a gamer.

VDSL will turn interleaving on and off as it's tuning and this will cause 30ms changes.

Oh ok, is there no way to disable interleaving totally?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

I can't see any interleaving on our VDSL2 line. I can ping servers at Snap at about 6ms

Depends on what profile the DLM (Dynamic Line Management) system assigns to your line.
