So I have used 114MB today which is crazy I have downloaded several GB of data.  I have only used 12GB in 3 weeks??  Anybody else seeing very low usage in their account?  Its awesome but would be good to know what is going on and what I am actually using.

I am seeing the same situation. I've downloaded quite a lot but my remaining data hasn't decreased.

Maybe you are downloading unmetered cached content?

I've never noticed any usage for things like system updates so it could be that data from akamai servers are unmetered also.

Hey guys,

We found a problem with our data accounting and have rectified the problem. Data should be accounted from now!

Cheers

Which just shows how poor caps are as a network management tool its only peak times that are a problem. I bet if the caps were doubled you there wouldn't but a lot of extra traffic or congestion.

This makes no sense.

To be fair the second sentence is probably true, but the first is about as useful as this graph I found :)

Snap's usage metre is always playing up , there are days every month when data is not recorded, so it pays to check every day .

Data caps aren't about traffic management, they're about monetizing your service.

How would you like to see your service managed?

Slingshot do an AYCE plan, but can you ever hit the PIR with that service?

There are lots of different models and they all come with issues and often get way more complex than users will bother with.

Seems to me that Snap is basically saying that while users are staying vaguely within the service plan they're paying for then they simply consider fixing the metering system more expensive than the cost of a bit of extra data.

The problem with metering is that it's just really really expensive to do.
