Thanks Ralph. I'm not saying Snap are mickey mouse, more the whole process is. I'm not in any great hurry to have it working, luckily.

Pretty sure Snap have no control over Chorus. They need to get the fibre over the road, up power poles, which I wouldn't have thought would be a huge deal. The guys who did the install implied they could do it, they just need permission.

Latest update from Chorus, via snap

This premise is serviced by an aerial feed.
However, Chorus are currently unable to connect to the existing pole.
Chorus are in negotiations with a third party to reach an agreement to utilise the pole.
Once this agreement has been confirmed we will be in a position to advise an installation date.

Given we're more than a year into UFB the rollout I'd have thought they'd have sorted this type of thing by now. Surely I'm not the first person in Wellington to get UFB who has an aerial feed.

Fortunately I'm not in a rush. If it takes too long though I'll ask for a refund and have another go in a year or two.

It's almost four weeks since the UFB installers came and wired the house internally. I'm still not connected to the network, and there's no estimate from Snap/Chorus of when it might happen.

My install took over 3 months. Mostly thanks to Chorus having to re-plan the install 2 or 3 times, and the whole approval process having to be done each time.

I was wondering what the holdup was, so I emailed Wellington Electricity. They replied

"Hi Tim, Your timing is impeccable. The Pole Connection Agreement was signed with Chorus this morning."

So I look forward to this filtering through Chorus to the installers so UFB can be installed :) Of course I start a new job next week, so they'll call me Friday afternoon to install it Monday... and there's no way I can take time off a new job. If Snap's reading this trying to have it done this week would be awesome.

So does this mean that they have to sign an agreement for every pole or have Chorus only just managed to sign a general agreement covering any of Wellington Electricity's poles?

I presume for any of WE's poles. Doing it for two specific poles would be rather short sighted.

Yes, I'm hoping that is the case too.

Our install will be interesting, I expect it will be from a WE pole but the pole is in our property.

It's going on three months since I ordered UFB. I heard from Snap a few weeks ago, they told me Chorus and Wellington Electricity are still negotiating some details of pole access, even though WE told me it was sorted a month ago. I expected it to happen December, but maybe Jan.

Unsure how long I just wait and see before I cancel and ask for a refund.

Lol.....
and people are still convinced that putting this brand new billion dollar network is the way to go....

Within a couple of weeks they could have trenched up the footpath and in to your section and be done with it!

Just read the entire thread, and I can sympathize with you, because that sucks. The real question here unfortunately is do you really want to cancel and therefore have to wait once again for this install. Which as you know can take upto 3 months. 

Seems like you should be really close to getting this job completed, so in my opinion it may be worth the time and wait for it to be completed :)

The government should have perhaps anticipated the issues with shared properties given the huge increase in subdivisions over the last 20 years.

The admin of premises connection is possibly more costly and difficult than putting a fibre down every street in the nation.

Pole by Pole contracts to avoid overloading of some poles?
