What about the data add ons rolling over? That's what Slingshot do and it seems to be very fair. Pay $50 for 50GB and only use 25? Then next month you still have the extra 25GB on your plan to use, but the base plan doesn't roll over. That's fairer for people as they're using the extra data they've paid for, and fair for the ISP as they're not rolling over larger and larger amounts thanks to the base plan.

Slowly our customers would accrue more and more and more data, and then (heavens forbid) all use it all at once. Our current method of billing allows us to easily project how much bandwidth our residential customers will use and make sure we have an adequate supply. I hope this explains why we aren't too keen on letting 20GB of usage one month flow on to the next - for 1 user it's not too significant, however across our 000's it can add up. We see ourselves as a premium ISP and take measures to make sure this is what our customers experience. Ralph. RalphFromSnap: Call our competitors, if you wait more than 17 seconds to speak to a person - then Snap is (on average!) quicker. Pity this didn't apply to email. I used to be able to email support and get a response in a week or two. nicegear.co.nz - VoIP, DVB and other Linux compatible hardware

This is what is needed, i had well over 13gb left on my plan of extra data i brought on top of my 10gb plan, rang snap to see if it could be rolled over, they said nope if you cant use it then tuff. the thing with isp's are that they bank on the fact that you dont use all your data, this is how they make money and is alittle like daylight robbery. if someone brought extra data over and above their cap and didnt use it then this data should be rolled over to the next month or even creadited it back to you. when i rang snap they said they buy the data off their upstream provider and all usage is to be used in the month brought on only and can not be refunded or rolled over. if people buy extra data then its legally theirs they payed for their plans and paied for extra data right off their visa's for everyone that brought a extra 10gb and never used it, thats $20 they just burnt and gave to the isp for nothing, the isp is rubbibg its hands together.... cream cakes at smoko.

Edit: If you want a backup dial up connection for your BB, PM me :) Make it expire after a given period. ;) Yes. make it expire say after the 2nd month of purchase, say im on a 10gb plan and brought 20gb extra but used only 20gb then 10gb would either get refunded or rolled over for the 2nd month making the 2nd month also 20gb. either way if extra bandwidth was purchased and un-used then this should be refuned to your account then you can either buy more data with it or simply pay your next bill with it. i wasnt happy that i had to download 13gb of torrents and delete them just to use my bandwidth i payed for up. next we see the bigger naked adsl plan from 20gb to 30gb for free. come on you guys can do better. more cream cakes for smoko anyone?

after Ralph saying there would be no major changes, today i find my plan doesn't exist any more, ok the name still exists but it has gone up $10.00 and 10 gig so now its $99 for 60 gig, used to be $89 for 50 gig , i think an extra $10 for 10 gig is ok but i dont want 60 gig, i struggled to use 50 gig , now i have to pay 10 extra for 10 gig i dont need , not happy Snap Telecom is looking good.

Just downgraded the MIL's plan as she is not using enough data to make it worth while. Interesting that calling from a different number than the one we have connected, there were no security questions. Just a case of, which one I wanted, and 'done'.

Solution: drop down a plan. Pay $20 less per month and you won't find it such a struggle to use 35GB.

It is indeed unchanged, vexxxboy must be referring to the email that was sent to Snap customers, which quotes prices that do not include the $10 discount for having your phoneline with Snap. And the suggestion to change to Snap Advanced is a good one, if you are indeed struggling to use your bandwidth maybe 35gigs is better suited? Saves you $20 as well.

i really dont see any changes in pricing just plan changes either less or more bandwidth, for example naked dsl B was $89/m for 20gb data now its the same price for 10gb more data

I think it's safe to say as has been pointed out already that the prices in the email don't include the $10 discount you get if you have your home phone with Snap. They probably sent the email out like this because they have customers that don't package their services to get the discount, but it could have been made clearer. (you'll notice all plans are exactly $10 more expensive in the email compared to their website)

I think Ralphy from SNAP is just a big tease. He starts off way back in December wetting our appetites with some promised changes in plans. The implication is it will be to the customers benefit. Now it has been watered down to almost nothing. I am with SNAP on naked DSL. I see some of the contributors to this forum have made decisions based on the carrot that Ralphy has been dangling. Is Ralph a SNAP plant put here for the very purpose to influence intending customers decisions? If so - naughty Ralphy - he should be moderated off the forum.
