I have to say that since this week end my speeds were restaured to normal on Snap, it is actually really good. I get full speed up to US and Europe, I don't know what caused the slow speeds that I have experienced last 2 weeks but I hope that it will stay stable this way. Another interesting point is that people on other ISPs using the sames routes as me (Global Gateway International) used to get better speeds on the same servers while I was experiencing problems... Anyway when something is bad I have to say it, but similarly if something is good!

NO, it`s droped ag !!! i mean what the hell is this, my speed is not capped btw, totally useless for playing HON atm, getting 300ping+ in every fuxkin single game. Even downloading files from RS or MU links can not reach 300k/s, is this some kind of joke or something is happening? Hmm i might come inside and use a direct connection rather than across the wireless from the sleepout. Probably jinxed myself haha, however tonight there is defintely a problem: Normally im around 5 to 6 Mb/s int, but tonight, its rubbish. Not too worried though, might be okay tomorrow? In my experience, I've never had sustained international bandwidth issues. Don't know what plan I'm on, its the 60GB one. This will be first time ever I havent hit at least 1Mb/s international down. I noticed the speeds at my flat improved heaps before I left, I say it must be because the ADSL2+ Cabinet went fully live - Who says I go visit Snap here in Christchurch and get them to do a speedtest from their office? When you're having an issue, can you quickly do a tracert to google.com? I've been looking at a couple of connections for guys at GP, and they all seem to have high/eratic ping to the first hop. Michael, how easy was Smoothwall to set up? Do you not worry about the power for another PC running 24/7? I also considered IP Cop. I'm mainly interested in the logging aspects, i.e. determining who used the most data; but shaping could be useful for torrent users.

Smoothwall is simple to set up, and can be run off older hardware. IP-Cop is probably recommended, as it's based off Smoothwall but has some enhancements.
