Snap performance has been really terrible lately.
I'm getting full speeds of my synch rate for NZ connections, but the moment I hit anything that's on southern cross it goes down to sub 100kbps but upload stays at full speed.
Plus I'v been having real issue about their customer services.
I've twittered, phones, emailed and am not getting anywhere.
I'v also just been told that one of my requests has only been taken into account after about 10 days since my call.
I think it's time for an alternative.

same here, my download speed over the weekend was shocking , my upload speed was the same as my download speed and after talking to Snap and to be told that the download speed in my area was only 2000 MB  so what was the problem,(well considering i was only getting 500  MB down quite a bit) and the impression that they couldn't be bothered, i hung up and for the first time with Snap i was disappointed with the service i received from the help desk . but tonight the speed seems to be better

Well you are lucky because I can't get more than 60KB/s on a single thread to the US (http) but as usual I get full speed anywhere in NZ (so it's not a congestion at the exchange).

I'm going to have a cabinet nearby in the near future, but what is the point of having a 20M connection locally when you cannot even have a 1M link international at any time of the day?

The good point of Snap is that they are not too expensive for heavy users that download stuff with many threads and to use offline, but for streaming they do not offer a good international link as they used to do.

Local and even speeds to Aussie sites are fine. I can watch eps of the footy show on ninemsn.com without any buffering. However after that and further towards the americas, international speed isnt hitting 1Mb/s.

This is only really been in the last week, before that I had no problems. Even during peak, I still decent international bandwidth and most streaming videos could be watched without constant buffering.

Ill give it a few more days before checking with Ralph again.

Hi Everyone

just wondering how quickly the below buffers for everyone?

http://www.youplayalong.com/video/a2bd0645dbc1500/Sir-Duke--Stevie-Wonder

At the moment, for me this will be on track to buffer fully in about 15 minutes and it isnt even HQ!

This is not watchable, it is buffering all the time. The stream is coming at 20-60KB/s.

This test has been done at 1.00am so it is not really the peak time.

Take 2...

2.5 minutes to buffer the first minute so looking at just under 15ish minutes now.. an improvement but 10 minutes seems impossible at the moment!

Have found Snap performance really up and down in the last few weeks. Have been using them for about a year and only now are we finding them poor. Every one in the house complaining just like when we were with xnet!

Played straight away for me just now, no buffering.

You can't judge snap's performance just on this one site, it's no youtube - they could be having peak time bandwidth issues of their own.
