The internet is littered with people with Samsung devices who can't get Keis to actually connect to them. It's not an isolated problem.

This is true. My Tablet was not connecting while i was on Android 3.2
But it does connect now that im on Jellybean 4.1.1

I have updated to Jellybean 4.1.1 but thats through a Flash Mod Rom - I definitely suggest doing this if you can't be bothered waiting for the ICS update, Thats if you don't use the front facing camera as this does not work. Everything else does. And Jellybean is super fast!

mattlist: Hello all,

YES the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be getting ICS in NZ.
When..... Im not to sure. Probably not for a few months, maybe longer.

I can't even connect my Galaxy tab 10.1 to Kies so im not sure how I'm even going to be able to update mine. Hopefully just through the software update thats built into the tablet.

I've got the same problem. The latest version of kies won't load the MTP driver? or something like that?

When I install an older version of kies I can sync my tablet fine

I got an emailed answer from Vodafone New Zealand about the update, here is what they said:

HI Glen
Thank you for your e-mail.
We were meant to be receiving more information regarding this update however this has not been forth coming and as such we are unable to advise further. For further information you would need to contact Samsung directly as they are the providers of that particular application.

Wow, I asked vodafone to fire me an email if they heard any more, here was the response:

"HI Glen

Thank you for your response..

Due to the amount of queries we have had around this it is not visible to send e-mails out if we hear further on this application, The best way to keep informed around this would be via Samsung, if we do gain any more information this will come directly from them.

Sorry we are unable to assist further at this time."

Given this chap has mentioned above they have had so many queries about this I would have thought it would have been nice of vodafone to have chased it up for us with samsung.  I had mentioned in my email to him that we were getting nothing out of samsung and that was why I was trying him! I'm a vodafone customer using a samsung product with a vodafone rom on it, vodafone support just told me to sod off because they dont care :(,

whinge over, the wait continues.......

I sent another email through, this time a little more abrasive. The response as follows:

Thank you for your email, Unfortunately release plans for this update have not yet been confirmed in New Zealand, We are unable to be more specific at this time, and have passed your feedback to be reviewed by the relevant department regarding the update, and the website.

Or... They are a MASSIVE Company with MILLIONS of these devices on the market, and they don't want to release a build which causes massive problems for everyone.

I know it's hard to wait.. But seriously.. Chill :)

Sending irate messages to $12 an hour employees who will discard them without them ever seeing the light of day serves no purpose and will certainly NOT influence said LISTED company to release said software ANY earlier!

Samsung have always been slow on updates. It's their only real issue in my eyes.

They've had a very long time to get this update out, they even managed to get it on the Galaxy tab 2, which uses similar features as the tab.

I'm just guessing that Samsung only put a few people onto the upgrade task

However in saying that I don't mind as I don't want us to end up with something like iOS 6 maps(some sort of failure like that)

There is no way to compare an Upgrade which is a very very complicated task compared to starting a project on hardware already designed to run a specific OS. You need to take into account all existing applications and data and make sure it works for millions of exsting customers.

Would you prefer they released it today and found your device bricked or your data corrupted, or rather they didn't bother with your data at all and wiped it so they had less issues to deal with?
