IMPORTANT: It's important that you check the legal limitations before you do any of the following, I cannot be held responsible  for misusing this method for example to unroot a 2degrees Samsung Galaxy SIII or get another I9300 to support touch2pay if there is any law, or a term/condition that forbids doing so.

I've got the GT-i9300 from 2degrees firmware to whoever's interested in it.

Or if you want to do it yourself, try using Check Fus (from Play Market) on your phone and it will get you the information you need about your firmware, example here is mine:
Code: NZC
PDA: I9300XXALE8
CSC: I9300NZCALE5
Phone: I9300XXLE8
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDNZC

and then the app will let you know if you have the latest firmware or you need to update to an official or test (if you set it up to allow test firmwares) firmware.

You can then use the Check Fus Downloader windows version or the web version to download, check and decrypt that firmware from official Samsung servers.

You can use the same method to get any firmware from Samsung servers.

It's useful in many ways I won't even mention. Some suggested that by flashing this into a parallel imported I9300 you will get the full support for Touch2Pay.

I haven't tested that theory and don't know the legal side of it, but theoretical it should work.

Cheers mates,

Ok, I am not very sure if this is the right forum for this topic, if you believe it should be moved to the Android section, please yell or if you can do it yourself then I'd appreciate it if you do.

Cheers,

I've looked on SamMobile.com and don't see the 2degrees ROM listed. Today my Checkfus decided to wipe all my presets and I haven't got it to work yet, and the webversion doesn't list 2degrees.  Do you have a link to the source for the 2degrees download?  Thanks

Samsung Galaxy S I9100 16GB | 64 GB SD | Omega v9 (UK origin on XT Network)

You won't find it in any of the collecting firmwares websites, I found the vodafone one is there, but I got it from the Samsung Server.

Because the file is more than 1 GB of size (about 800 MB compressed), here is what you should do:

Method I, works everytime:
1- Download Check Fus Downloader windows version
2- Open it
3- Enter the information as shown in the photo below and then click on "Check Firmware"

You can copy them from here:
Model: GT-I9300
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDNZC
Hidswver: I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8

4- Click Download, and it will start downloading the firmware.
5- If the firmware is downloaded in "enc2" format which means it's encrypted, click on "Decrypt Firmware"
6- Enjoy it.
Method II, much easier and sometimes doesn't work:
1- Download Check Fus Downloader windows version
2- Open it
3- Enter the information as shown in the photo below and then click on "Check Firmware"

You can copy them from here:
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDNZC
PDA: I9300XXALE8
CSC: I9300NZCALE5
Phone: I9300XXLE8

4- Click Download, and it will start downloading the firmware.
5- Enjoy it.

For both methods, you should end up with a file with the name "GT-I9300_NZC_1_20120514193747_pm44bqucec.zip" once extracted you should be able to find this file "I9300XXALE8_I9300NZCALE5_I9300XXLE8_HOME.tar.md5"

To flash this latest stock NZ 2degrees I9300 rom, use Odin. I can explain more if you need to but I doubt it.

Which provider?? your best chance is to go to one of their show rooms and take a look at the same phone you've got and check its version. Otherwise ask around, there must be someone that has the same phone with the same provider.

Thanks for going to the trouble of providing step-by-step instructions.

Unfortunately for me I get an unhandled exception error for both methods.  Running as administrator doesn't make any difference, and I don't know what the error is to know how to remedy it.

Thanks anyway.

That's alright mate, have you tried both methods?
In the same folder with CheckFusDownloader there should be a file called "dbdata.db" try deleting this file and try again.
Do you access the internet through a proxy?
Remember that the letters are case sensitive, also you have to remove all the unnecessary spaces.

If you try all this and it doesn't work let me know and I will get you another solution, if you live in Welly you can come pick it up on a USB stick or I can post a DVD to you wherever in NZ.

Yep, tried both methods.
Deleted the dbdata.db file and now nothing is detected.
I don't access the Internet through a proxy
Copied and pasted the information you kindly provided, and had removed all the spaces.
I'm in Christchurch. I'll see if I can do this from work before waving the white flag and asking for a knight in shining armour :)  Thanks again.

UPDATE: Confirmed the dbdata.db file had recreated.  Yes. Gave it another crack. This time it did detect new firmware but same result, unhandled exception error.

Ok, here is yet another Method :D but this one although almost guaranteed, it's harder than the others.

1- Download the Check Fus Downloader 0.5 file, save it on the root of the C drive.
2- Rename the file "CF.exe"
3- Open the command line.
4- enter the following
cd\
and press enter, then enter the following command:
cf.exe -c I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8 GT-I9300MBDNZC GT-I9300

then press enter again. You should be able to see the following:

If you see the same output then type the following command:
cf.exe -dl I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8 GT-I9300MBDNZC GT-I9300

Hit enter and it will start downloading the file. And again if the file ends with a "enc2" format, then you will need to open the Check Fus Downloader 2.1 click "Advanced", enter the OS, Model, Product code, click browse select the file and then click on "CRC and Decrypt Firmware" which will check the file for errors and then decrypt it.

Instructions for this command line based Check Fus can be found here. Let me know if you have any questions.

You didn't put the hidswver in.

I have the file downloaded and decrypted, it's about 736 megabytes in size, and consists of a single .tar.md5 file. I have not flashed it, as I only wanted it for a backup and cannot therefore verify if it is the correct file.

If anyone else has - or wants to - let me know.
