HOW TO DOWNLOAD/BACKUP YOUR STOCK FIRMWARE
Method I, works everytime:
1- Download Check Fus Downloader windows version
2- Open it
3- Download Check Fus from the Play Store on your phone and use it to get the data required below (Model, Product code etc...)
Note: How to get the Hidswver, by combining the information you got in the following format (PDA/CSC/Phone/PDA)
4- Enter the information you got from the phone Check Fus as shown in the photo below and then click on "Check Firmware"
The shown example is for Galaxy S III I9300 (2degrees):
Model: GT-I9300
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDNZC
Hidswver: I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8
5- Click Download, and it will start downloading the firmware.
6- If the firmware is downloaded in "enc2" format which means it's encrypted, click browse, select the file and then click on "CRC and Decrypt Firmware" which will check the file for errors and then decrypt it.
7- Enjoy it.
Method II, much easier but sometimes doesn't work:
1- Download Check Fus Downloader windows version
2- Open it
3- Download Check Fus from the Play Store on your phone and use it to get the data required below (Model, Product code etc...)
4- Enter the information you got from the phone Check Fus as shown in the photo below and then click on "Check Firmware"
The shown example is for Galaxy S III I9300 (2degrees):
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDNZC
PDA: I9300XXALE8
CSC: I9300NZCALE5
Phone: I9300XXLE8
5- Click Download, and it will start downloading the firmware.
6- Enjoy it.
For both methods, you should end up with a file with the extention ".zip" once extracted you should be able to find a file with the extention ".tar.md5"
Use Odin to flash this fine whenever needed. This should be easy enough.
If you want to give credit, leave an encouraging reply or buy me a beer :D
UPDATE Method III, Command line, for old school geeks:
Ok, here is yet another Method :D but this one although almost guaranteed, it's harder than the others.
Using I9300 2degrees firmware as an example
1- Download the Check Fus Downloader 0.5 file, save it on the root of the C drive.
2- Rename the file you've just downloaded to "cf.exe"
3- Open the command line.
4- enter the following
cd\
and press enter, then enter the following command:
cf.exe -c I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8 GT-I9300MBDNZC GT-I9300
How to use the command line for any other phone and/or provider:
Usage: <-c|-dl> <HIDSWVER> <PRODCODE> [<MODEL>] [<OS>]
-c --- Check latest firmware
-dl --- Download latest firmware
<MODEL> --- Default: GT-I9000
<OS> --- Default: Android
-- Alternative: Bada
Example: CheckFusDownloader.exe -c I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3 XEU
Example: CheckFusDownloader.exe -c S8500XXJL2/S8500OXAJL2 XEO GT-S8500 Bada
<HIDSWVER> = PDA/CSC/Phone/PDA
then press enter again. You should be able to see the following:
If you see the same output then type the following command:
cf.exe -dl I9300XXALE8/I9300NZCALE5/I9300XXLE8/I9300XXALE8 GT-I9300MBDNZC GT-I9300
Hit enter and it will start downloading the file. And again if the file ends with a "enc2" format, then you will need to open the Check Fus Downloader 2.1 click "Advanced", enter the OS, Model, Product code, click browse select the file and then click on "CRC and Decrypt Firmware" which will check the file for errors and then decrypt it.
Instructions for this command line based Check Fus can be found here. Let me know if you have any questions.
