Yeah I am not trying to fix a 2 day old tablet with a screw driver, that is madness. I don't want to wait for a replacement from another store or weeks from now. Actually I don't really want a reaplcement, in fear of going getting another dud, plus the extra running back and forwards to the shop. I know Dick Smith are damm mean when asking for a refund. I think they would be breaching the Consumer Guarantees Act if they refuse giving me a refund for a defective product.

Not at all. They are within their rights to repair or replace the unit "within a reasonable timeframe" before they have to give you a refund.

There's plenty of other topics on this subject around the board, don't lets get too OT with another CGA discussion.

"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".

Blimey how did this thread disappear off the front page :-)

Although we have "Aeroplane mode" on the Nexus 7 courtesy of Jelly Bean I have noticed that that does not stop the wi-fi working.  Is there any other reason for it on a wi-fi only tablet?

Has anyone bothered with a launcher?  I was thinking of trying Go Launcher EX but is it compatable with a tablet or it is a bit of a rough fit?

I use go launcher on my gs2 so tried it on my n7. Worked fine and has been optimized for tablets but I soon changed back, can't remember why but just didn't like it.

How many of you have experienced any of the screen separation issues? I seem to have a very slight amount of screen lift on the left side of my device but it doesn't appear to be a huge problem. Do you think it will get worse? Is it worth the hassle of getting a replacement? I went into Noel Leeming and looked at the display model and it had the same screen separation issue but it looks much worse than mine, so I'm wondering if it affects all of them to some degree. Oh, and I'm also not sure how game I am to try any of the DIY fixes like tightening the screws. I did try clamping the screen lightly overnight to see if it was an adhesive issue, but it doesn't seem to have remedied it.

Apex Launcher beta has support for 7" tablet UI.

I tried the Nova launcher which is a good fit for the Nexus 7. There are lots of features but besides the ability to have the home screen go into landscape, I didn't find anything that I preferred over the stock launcher.

Thanks for the replies. I tried both Nova and Go over the weekend but didn't feel they offered a lot over jellybean. If nothing else I am appreciating how polished jellybean is compared to previous versions of android.

Ability to have wifi on in 'Aeroplane' mode is not unique to the N7. I can turn wifi 'on' on an S2 and my Galaxy Tab when in flight mode.

Has anyone found any cases in NZ yet?

I saw Noel Lemmings had some due in on the 13th, but they're still showing as on order.

I ordered mine from ebay australia for $16 AUD. I will post pics when it arrives. I know it is not in NZ but according to the Aussies when we were ahead of them in the medal tally there was such a thing as Aus Zealand ;)

Some useful apps I found to get the most out of my N7  In order.....

1) Nova launcher ( for andriod 4)  Even the home screen rotates. fan-tas-tic!!!
2) ES File Explorer to access content on other drives
3) Firefox beta.. I like the way they have the tabs stacking up in the background
4) MX Player seems to paly more formats than some of the others I have used

Hey you NZ Nexus 7 owners....

whats the verdict?

worth it?

I read that the GooglePlay is all limited by region so I assume the content is a bit lame? or is there a proxy-app to open things up a bit.

If you have one, interested in your pros/cons.

Cheers
