Crowbar: Stock Nexus 7 does support USB Host mode. I use a OTG cable to connect it to my Canon DSLR.

It does not however support external HDD's via OTG without a root.

Really? I plugged in my USB stick in and it didn't power it up. Weird must me using ptp.

There is an app for that (;

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer&hl=en

It reads normal USB drives that dont support MTP without having to root the device.

Got the 16GB version for $395 from The Good Guys, which was their offer to best DSE's current $399 price.

Hard to say when the 32GB version will hit our shores, and if it will be at the original price point of the 16GB version, now that the 16GB version has dropped in price. My guess is that it won't, and that the 32GB will probably sit at between $469 to $499 after GST.

*chuckle* I kept monitoring prices even after I bought it, DSE dropped the price to $349 6 days later, and I popped back to the good guys to take advantage of their 30 day price guarantee.

So after the refund, my N7 only cost me $339 :)

$359 at Bond & Bond until 30 November

The thing is the N7 16GB is not changing they are adding new models to the existing range so they shouldn't be on run out but it almost seems as if they are... here's hoping the new range will bring new even more aggressive pricing across all models

Some friends overseas just bought me one using the Noel Leeming pay online, pickup from store system. I have to say I love this device. Better than the iPad2 and HP Slate 500 I have used frequently in the past.

Beautiful craftsmanship, fluid responsiveness and so much possibilities. Only thing I miss from my S2 is the buttons in the notification slider for silent etc, but I'm sure there's an app for that.

If any of you geekzoners are in hong Kong, the 32gb version is available at fortress for HKD2398. Works out to approx NZD400.

No nexus 4 or 10 in sight, but the store person said they're due next week.

Spotify works a treat on my Nexus 7.

A bit OT but I use Spotify on it when away from home, but at home I use Spotimote on the nexus 7 to control Spotify running on the windows PC which then streams over wifi using Airfoil to an old (SIM-less) android phone running AirBubble, which is plugged into my old-school stereo through the headphone jack...convoluted but actually works really really well, and youtube or whatever other audio just plays in parallel through the PC speakers rather than the stereo which is what I wanted.

TBH i have no idea, probably not, I was looking at options based on sending it locally and then having someone bring it over hand luggage so shipping ot NZ was no major concern.

Just got 4.2 on my 7.

For everyone still waiting you can force the update with following steps:

1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All

2. Find Google Services Framework.

3. Tap on Force Stop.

4. Select Clear Data.

5. Reboot device

After reboot I was greeted with my update message (;
